Entourage - "Guys and Doll" 7/2/06

Pretty good ep, hopefully that means the end of Dom. A guest role once in a great while would be ok, but nothing more.

SPiRAL 07-02-06 11:01 PM

This was a much better episode than last week. Maybe because I'm used to Dom, and wasn't too bothered by him this week. I loved the very end, and the use of Dead Prez. The previews for next week look good,
Spoiler:
Vince telling the WB exec that he wants $20 M for A2 or he walks.
Let the fireworks begin. Terrible pun intended. ;)

Ari : " What the fuck do you want, ****-muscle ? "

Brian Gentz 07-02-06 11:10 PM

hmmm I wonder if there is a reason why they didn't film A2 back-to-back with 1 like Ari told Vince they wanted to.... I guess that was before Cameron was attached maybe he didn't want to do back to back movies

JetSter735180 07-02-06 11:59 PM

Great Episode.

Bye bye Dom!

Previews for next week go in spoiler tags por favor.

Brian Gentz 07-03-06 01:12 AM

couple of other things.

Loved E setting his alarm so he could (attempt to) wake up Ari. And I missed Ari's new insult until half-asleep Mrs. Ari said "****-muscle?"

Also always enjoy when Ari introduce those rediculous scripts "dead poets society in space" "you're a retard in a red cross tent in the sahara"

Dom - "wearing this expensive suit, sitting in this expensive helicopter, going to this expensive guys mansion... i really feel as though I've finally made something of myself"

I found the Dom character more tolerable, but I won't miss him.

How much DO megastars get for a movie? And do they get a flat amount, or do they also get a small % of the boxoffice sales?

ShallowHal 07-03-06 09:38 AM

This was much better than last week! I still don't see why they needed a character like that, but I guess it's better to have him in 2 eps than a whole season.

The ending seemed a bit abrupt, it would have been a better cliffhanger if they'd ended with
Spoiler:
Vince's $20 million for A2 or I walk demand,
but I have a feeling that'll be next week's ending. Having that in the middle of a show is wasting a prime 'tune in next week' moment. If they'd never introduced Dom, we'd already know what happened. Move it along, Wahlberg!

cleaver 07-03-06 10:20 AM

I was a little surprised when Dom got on that spaceship with Poochy, but I guess that's how it goes in Hollywood.

Depends, they can get either, or both. One way Lucas could afford Alec Guiness in ANH was to give him a percentage (points IIRC) of the box office and merchandise - brtilliant move Alec!

The only problem is that I would have thought the studio would lock in a salary for a sequel if A2 is made. Isn't that how it usually works for franchise type movies?

Maybe. I don't really wonder what happens for stuff that's never been in the script, though. I watch it for entertainment, not to guess what the fictitious people or papers said between shows.

Spoiler:
That said, I'd assume a contract option is just that, an option. Either party could demand more or offer less, especially if one is willing to walk away. Just like baseball, a team doesn't have to sign the contract extension option, and the player doesn't have to accept it. I think. :p

I thought his contract had a pre-determined salary for A2 which Ari mentioned sometime in Season 2. I could be wrong, but I thought I remember hearing that.

Groucho 07-03-06 11:18 AM

Wow, Bruno Kirby should hit the gym once in a while.

deadlax 07-03-06 11:28 AM

There might be guaranteed A2 money in the contract. It doesn't mean that Vince actually has to do the movie. He'd just probably be barred from doing any other Superhero movies for a while. He'd also probably get blackballed form the studio. Whether he would be banned from acting in other movies would be up to the judge to decide.

Then the studio decides if it's worth more to pay Vince or find someone else.

Flashback 07-03-06 01:06 PM

Eh ... I hope to god this is the last of Dom ... what a waste of 2 weeks IMHO.

This stuff happens all the time. Think about what happened a few years ago with Gandolfini and the Sopranos. I think in the end, depending on the actor and the property, the studio may renegotiate to keep the star happy.

He also might have to pay a shitload of damages based on delays in production

I hope they remember to write his checkbook into the script. :sarcasm:

Solid episode and I loved that ending...looks like Vinnie has to do Aquaman 2 instead of the Pablo Escobar movie...should make for some good drama...glad to see Dom go.

Good episode.

One thing I didn't like was the start date to A2.
First of all Aquaman is only a week old or so, and they greenlight A2 and already have a start date?

Secondly why did the start date for A2 have to be the exact same as Medellin? They could've been a month apart and they still would've had a huge scheduling overlap/conflict. It would've been more realistic that way in my opinion.

movieking 07-03-06 09:36 PM

Just had a marathon and caught all the episodes of this season. Did they ever confirm how much Aquaman actually took in on opening weekend?

$2 million more than Spiderman.

"****-muscle?" Awesome! :)

Yeah, that Dom character was really unlikable. Really unlikable.

And seriously, why do they keep showing the guy's ass?
