Any news on the 2006-2007 SNL Saturday Night Live Cast?

Here are my favorites:
Amy Poeher
Kristin Wiig
Fred Armisen
Andy Samberg
Bill Hader only impressed once, and that was his Al Pacino in the season premiere. He hasn't really done it for me since then.

The best news is the show is cancelled. This show hasn't been watchable for years, cause the writing stinks, and other than Darrell Hammond, there isn't one really good comedian on there. They are all either OK or bad.
The OK ones are: Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, and Horatio Sanz, and Seth Meyers, he did a pretty good John Kerry impression.
And Tina Fey is so overrated, and I know she is one of the head writers, so the main problem lies with her.

SNL would be better sans Sanz.
I wouldn't care if they let Will Forte and Andy Samberg go.
But if Andy left, so would his "Lonely Island" buddies, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, who are writers for the show.
Did y'all know that Jason Sudekis is the nephew of George Wendt? Well doesn't that just beat all.

It's official!
Tina Fey leaving 'SNL' for '30 Rock'
"The new show's going to take a lot of time," Fey said while appearing on Friday night's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
"I wanted to stop doing 'Saturday Night Live' so I could spend more time with Star Jones," she joked, referring to last month's dramatic departure of "The View" co-hostess.
Fey, 36, first joined "Saturday Night Live" as a writer in 1997 and became head writer in 1999.
In 2000, she first appeared on camera on "Weekend Update" alongside co-anchor
Jimmy Fallon, who was replaced by
Amy Poehler two years ago.
Fey plays the head writer of a fictional late-night sketch show in "30 Rock," a show she developed for NBC that also stars
Alec Baldwin.
"This is the big leap I'm making, it's a show about working at a late-night comedy show," she told Leno. "I'm very creative."

As bad as he is, I like Sanz. I don't know why, but I find comfort in his limited ability. And every time he cracks a smile during a skit - I smile.
Glad Fey and Dratch are gone. Fey was good every now and then on WU, but I have always scratched my head out how she was able to work her way to the top of the writing crew. Dratch served her purpose for many a year, but it was time for her to go.
I actually think a good portion of the hires over the last few years have been really good. Hopefully, we will see an improvement in the writing and they can get a chance to shine.
Seth Meyers can be funny, but a little less of him would go a long way.
Kristen Wiig is the next Gilda.

I don't think its good for SNL that Tina Fey is leaving. I think it IS good for Tina Fey fans like me that we get to watch her in her own show each week.
I hope it lasts, though. I read on Aint it cool that the show 30 Rock comes on after is horrible.
I just lost a big reason to watch SNL, well WU anyway.

Lorne Michaels has stated that NBC is cutting the budget this season for all of their shows which means that SNL will have to do with a smaller cast. I guess it depends on which cast member they will keep whether to see if this is a good news or bad news situation.

Will Forte was one of the lead writers for the brilliant but short lived TV show Action!
Why can't he be funny on SNL?

Wikipedia is listing that Molly Shannon will return to the cast of SNL this fall.
This is the first I've heard of it, and it seems like an odd move. Anyone know if there's anything to it, or is it just some more Wikipedia bullshittery?

my 2 cents - everyone on that show is talented and that's why they're there. AMY POEHLER is the most amazing improviser and comedian around - best on the show. if one had to go KENAN THOMPSON should be it - horrible. KRISTEN WIIG needs to be shown more, same with J SUDEIKIS. ANDY is amazing if they got some good sketches going down for him.
and hey ima stick up for TINA FEY. she is an amazing comedian, but yes - time for her to move on. as far as DRATCH leaving, she was amazing, i'll be sad. as far as HORATIO, wow, how could you hate? the guy is a GREEEEEAT comedian.
hopefully they'll be tons of changes for this season - some good new memorable sketches. i think they should look out for jason mantzoukas - definitley an SNL-worthy comedian.
-more than 2 cents.

According to Wikipedia, the cast for 06-07 would consist of:
Darrell Hammond (1995—)
Chris Parnell (1998—)
Maya Rudolph (1999—)
Seth Meyers (2001—) <--- also the new head writer
Amy Poehler (2001—)
Fred Armisen (2002—)
Will Forte (2002—)
Finesse Mitchell (2003—)
Jason Sudeikis (2004—) <--- now apart of the cast
Kenan Thompson (2003—)
Still featured:
Andy Samberg (2005—)
Bill Hader (2005—)
Kristen Wiig (2005—)
Meaning Dratch, Fey, and Sanz are the only three not returning and there will be a new featured player (Liz Cackowski).
I don't know if this true or not, as another page on Wikipedia lists Parnell and Mitchell not returning as well (which would be a shame that Parnell gets canned over fucking Poehler).

NY Post article on the shakeups at SNL. In summary:
- Four people are about to be fired.
- No new cast members.
- Poehler, Hammond, Myers (to be sole head writer) and Samburg will be returning for sure.

Newsday is reporting that Sanz, Parnell and Thompson are out. Sudeikis will man Weekend Update all by himself.
