Meerkat Manor

I am loving this show. Anyone watching?

I normally do not watch shows on Animal Planet, or documentary-type shows. I usually like shows that tell a story. But I read an interesting blurb about this and I have always liked meerkats so I set a Season Pass to check it out.

Wow! It has already sucked me in after 2 episodes. It is really compelling and lots of drama.

They got all this great footage of a large Meerkat family over 10 years and they have really edited it into a very compelling storyline. It is one of the best "reality" type shows I have ever seen.

The main meerkat mama "Flower" has all these kids. One of the daughters is pregnant which is a no-no as the dominant female is the only one supposed to breed. So there is the chance that Flower might hurt her grand-pups. And Flower has a new litter of Pups she had herself so she leaves them with the "babysitters" every day while she goes out foraging for food. One day, one of the reckless teenagers takes a pup and forgets about him and one of the older meerkat siblings has to bring him back.

Then one of the meerkats gets bitten by a snake and he is fighting to survive. He is sick and unable to go look for food. Meanwhile, the meerkat family is getting threatened by another gang of meerkats and they have to fight to protect their territory.

The show is narrated by Seas Astin. They are re-airing the first few episodes on Friday at 7pm with a new episode at 8pm.

Flower better get control of her family or she will lose more....just like poor little blossom. She needs to get control of Mozart who is nothing more than a trouble maker who i trying to be the alpha female. I am sick of it...how many more will have to die before Flower does away with her.

Holy resurrected thread! Glad to see some people finally watching it.

I must say though that the first season (which aired earlier this summer when I first started the thread) was much better than the recently ended second season. I think it suffered from the same problem as season 2 of Desperate Housewives.

My wife has been hooked on this show for a while now. Usually when I enter the room and see she has the meerkats on the screen I just go get on the computer. Maybe I should check it out.

I've tried to watch this show but I can't get hooked, and my wife and I will watch Animal Planet for hours, used to watch Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom all the time as a kid; what am I missing?
