On Friends, it's always apparent that its a "sitcom" and never realistic (of course, the studio audience has a lot to do with that). The Office finale, though, successfully switched to realistic drama with those last scenes.

One Tree Hill - Limo upside down under a bridge with the groom trapped inside with an inch of air and the bride on the bridge screaming down to him.

What it made it all the more dramatic was at the time it aired there was a very very good chance it was a series finale, and the last scene was a new bride on a bridge screaming her guts out cause her husband was drowning...

On a completely different Note, lol: I missed the last episode of 'ER' can someone let me in on the cliffhanger? Thanks!

While not the highest in ratings, the Criminal Minds season finale was very well written. Its a semi-cliffhanger, but the real enticement is how the clues will unfold in the conclusion.

CSI Miami was decent as well, but not edge of your seat.

House and Lost are basically the only 2 primetime shows I watch other than any of the occasional Law n Orders, and I'm definitely looking forward to House next year. Love the show. But not a cliffhangeer IMHO.

I won't get too excited since they basically skirted the entire "he's living underground, supposedly dead" thing in less than one hour this season.

From TVGuide.com:

Despite how Monday's season finale left off, the sixth season of Fox's 24 will not pick up with Jack Bauer riding a slow boat to China as a political prisoner. "I don’t think much of the story will take place in China," executive producer Howard Gordon tells the trade mag TV Week. "It's just an impractical thing given the real-time constraints, because it would take Jack 16 hours — three-quarters of the [season] — to get back to L.A." If Jack's imprisonment isn't the hook for 24's January '07 return, what is? Howard shared no details, noting, "I just started writing the first [episode] this morning" — meaning only two or three main characters have been killed thus far.
