HBO's Dream On

Does anybody remember HBO's earlier sitcom "Dream ON." What a great show, I forgot about it for awhile, Unfortunately Netflix does not have it. I have to shop around for the best price.

Numanoid 05-23-06 11:15 AM

Yep, I used to watch it during its first run. Good stuff. I wonder why Brian Benben never made it big after that? Of course, he gets to nail Madeline Stowe every night, so he's doing just fine.

BassDude 05-23-06 11:33 AM

Picked up the DVD set when it came out. 1st HBO comedy that set the stage for Sex and the City and such. Outfits and some jokes are dated, but still fun.

I loved a similar HBO show called Mind of the Married Man. Similar in the "male angst' and fantasizing aspects. It was cancelled after two seasons I believe, and season 1 is out on DVD.

Ah, one of the first "tit-coms". It wasn't very good even then, so I can imagine how creaky it is now.

Bill Needle 05-23-06 01:56 PM

Dream On was a catalyst for Sex in the City, in the same way it was a catalyst for Arli$$. :bmonkey:

BigDan 05-23-06 03:24 PM

Didn't really care for the show, but I faked admiration for it when a guy who used to work on the show moved in next door to me.

clckworang 05-23-06 04:32 PM

I remember this one. Although I was probably much too young, I remember watching this sometimes when I was a kid.

JacksModernLife 05-23-06 11:24 PM

I remember it as a kid and I remember it had lots of nudity and I enjoyed that

Philly30 05-24-06 01:26 AM

only seasons 1 and 2 are on DVD will the rest be released

Decker 05-24-06 01:46 AM

I don't know how many seasons that show was on but I remember that the gal in it (who would later play Nina on Just Shoot Me!) won like every single Ace award given to an actress.

gatoinfeliz 05-24-06 02:27 AM

I think it ran for 7 seasons.

That's all I remember about it too. Same goes for 1st & 10.

Yeah, that Jag gal (Kathrine Bell? Something like that) did an early nude scene on it.

joefrog91 05-25-06 01:40 PM

The nudity was the only reason I ever watched it. I didn't have HBO when 1st & 10 was on, but I watched a couple of episodes at my uncle's house and thought it was cool.

Mondo Kane 05-25-06 03:16 PM

I tuned in towards the last season or 2. Courthouse episode with James Woods was hillarious.

Gotta check out the early season sets one of these days.

Yes, Netflix definitely has "Dream On" Seasons 1 & 2

paradicelost 05-26-06 09:56 AM

The first time I actually saw boobs was because of this show. So it holds a special place in my heart. I had heard that it had came out on dvd but i haven't had a chance to get a hold of then as of yet.

tommyp007 05-26-06 07:51 PM

Like a previous poster said, only the first 2 seasons are out. I desperately need the rest.

M2theAX 05-26-06 09:01 PM

ok so netflix does have it! I did a search for Dream On and it was not listed upon the first results, as I scrolled down about 20 slots I saw it! Just added to queue :)

McHawkson 05-26-06 10:58 PM

Woohoo!

I just watched it (rented from Netflix), still a great show.

strife 05-28-06 03:26 AM

That's bummer the onle episode I remember is in the 6th season.

This was a great show to watch when starting puberty.

dcswirl 05-29-06 02:17 PM

Great show. Waiting to pick it up on the cheap.

dstrauss 05-29-06 02:41 PM

I remember once reading that the show was created as a way for the producers to get some use out of the rights to all those old film clips they had access to. Don't know if that's true. I met the kid who played the son a couple years ago as a local con, he was doing that steampunk Jules Verne series at the time. Nice guy.
