Yes, Jay London told the same jokes he did on S2. And they weren't funny then.

Caroline Rhea was okay. She's not kneeslapping, but she's funny and likable.

I thought Ty did the best, then Josh, and Chris has been really disappointing me these last few weeks.

Groucho 08-02-06 08:31 AM

Chris was a front-runner going into this, but he's really sank in the finals. Drug humor? Probably not the best choice for a prime time audience. Ty has come out of nowhere and taken the show by storm...but at this point it's Josh's competition to lose.

How can next week be the Season Finale when there'll still be two comics left?

I'm pretty open in my humor base, but even I was offended by joking about hitting kids on bikes and having them floating in pools. Havent watched this show all season long, caught it last night and I thought Chris was horrible. Ty on the other hand seemed like a clear winner to me, though I'm sure Josh's jokes about his disability will carry him to the end. That spelling bit was way done before.

das Monkey 08-02-06 09:04 AM

At least Gary Gulman tried some new jokes. Jay London ... ugh. Rhea wasn't that much better. She's a likeable person and everything, but her jokes were pretty weak.

Is anyone else distracted by how Anthony Clark is a nervous wreck in every episode? The first time he was on stage, I could understand it, but every week, his hands are shaking, his voice is trembling, and he's staring at the prompter like a deer in headlights. Why did they hire him? He's neither a respected comic nor an effective host.

Well, last night was disappointing. Early in the show, Chris Porter and Josh were easily the funniest guys there. But since the finals have started, Chris just seems awkward. He walks around far too much and his subject matter hasn't been original or overly funny. He has a few great bits here and there, but his set was very uneven.

Josh had some great jokes, but his delivery was slightly off - he's usually better than this.

Then there is Ty. This guy pretty much KILLS every time. The last 2 weeks he really impressed me. This week, he was decent...not great, but following Chris' mediocre set, I think he definitely was the strongest of the night. He's got some really good material.

I think it'll be Ty and Josh in the final 2... I think Chris is great, but he just hasn't brought his A game and that will hurt him in the end.

My wife and I have been commenting all season on Clark's shaky voice. I don't think it's nerves, tho; I think it's him. We were lucky to see his standup routine a couple years before "Yes, Dear" came out. He was easily one of the funniest stand up acts I've ever seen. I was actually excited to see he was hosting this season, but he hasn't shown the talent I saw at all. Jay Mohr used to do some stand up before each show; Clark hasn't done any. And worse yet, he seems to be reading the jokes someone wrote for him!
My guess for why they hired him: He was once a decent comic, has some fanbase from (what I think is) a crappy show, and Mohr refused (because they screwed up LCS3??). But Clark has been disappointing as a host.

cornflakeguy 08-02-06 09:18 AM

I like Caroline Rhea, I think she's cute.

Jay London...."it doesn't get any better, ma'am."

When the first few words out of Porter's mouth was 'mushrooms', my mouth fell open. What the hell? I can't relate to tripping on mushrooms, how can I find any of that funny? Chris Porter has turned into an idiot over the last few weeks.

Ty is the winner already, give him the prize. Not that Ty is all that great, but he is better than the other two.

I was thinking about something while watching that last night. Name a FEMALE comic that when put up against Chris, Josh and Ty she would NOT have been in last place. I can't think of any. Female comics have never done it for me.

DRG 08-02-06 09:46 AM

Anthony Clark's Mel Gibson joke was dumb... it didn't even make sense. It's one thing to go after the timely topic, but at least make a real joke about it rather than just throwing Mel's name into a nonsensical joke. "Hey I said Mel Gibson! Isn't that funny?"

I actually thought Caroline Rhea was pretty good. That's the first time I've actually seen her stand-up stuff. I've always found her annoying on her talk show and Biggest Loser, but I finally can understand her appeal from this.

I must be in the minority because I thought Chris was great tonight. Yeah, the first minute of his act stunk up the joint. The mushroom/God on the phone stuff was crap. But his razzing of the anti-drug ads was spot on. It was like a deranged Larry David rant.

Ty was also great. He easily has the most solid act, albeit the most conventional as well.

Josh wasn't bad, much better than last week. I give him credit for not simply using his disability as the punchline... he creates humor out of it. What I mean is, instead of just doing "I'm disabled... isn't that funny!" type stuff, he uses it as a springboard to create actual jokes.

Perkinsun Dzees 08-02-06 03:06 PM

Chris Porter was terrible. It's clear that his early success went to his head and now he thinks that anything he says is funny. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets zero votes.

Josh looks to be the clear winner. Week after week he is the best comic. Ty was okay, but he's still just a poor man's Dave Chappell.

NORML54601 08-03-06 09:51 AM

I thought Chris had his best set yet, Josh was excellent yet again and Ty's set was good but the weakest of the 3.

mrpayroll 08-03-06 11:02 AM

Chris' problem the last few weeks has been his material. You have mainstream America and kids watching this show and he's talking about mushrooms, drugs & running over a little girl. If he continues along this path, he won't be in the final 2.

Josh has a good chance to win, even though most of his jokes are based around his disability. But he could get the sympathy vote in the end.

Ty has been a pleasant surprise, even though his last set wasn't his strongest. But he seems to be at ease up there while he's telling his jokes and I think he will end up being 'The Last Comic Standing'.

Jay London was never funny and the only thing different about him this time was that he changed his hair style. If he didn't look the way he did, he would NEVER get any standup jobs.

Carolyn Rhea I had never seen before, but she actually wasn't too bad. She's been the best of the guest standups these last couple of weeks.

IF and that is a big if, if they do another LCS, they have to go back to the format of the first season where they spend most of the time with the houseguests in the house watching them interact with each other. That was the funniest part of the show. That way we got to know everyone and we had an emotional tie with them.

When a comic gets voted off this season, I just don't give a damn. But at least it is only one more week (?).

Chris

Did anyone see that female comic on Jay Leno last night. I think she was in the final running this season but never made it to the house. She makes those really scary faces? Jessica Kirkson is her name and she looked really familiar. She was really funny until she did her scary Chuckie doll face that she does.

She tried out for Season 2 (the one that John Heffron won) but didn't make it to the house, but she was asked back for Season 3..

What was it that Ty said last night that got bleeped? I missed that.

Yeah, his use of profanity ruined an otherwise funny joke.

msdmoney 08-05-06 01:34 AM

Actually I liked Chris' set this week, it was much better than his previous sets. I would actually give him first w/ Ty right behind him and Josh a distant third for this week. In the end I think Ty is the most consistent and will win the competition.

Perkinsun Dzees 08-09-06 02:12 AM

It was great to see Chris Porter get booted off the show. As I said before, he started off well but has been pretty terrible lately, so voters had no choice but to kick him off. He really deserved to get eliminated. I noticed last week he said that he reads these message boards and doesn't like the criticism we've been giving him. Well, Chris, F' off, youre gone and deserved to go. I don't care how many standing O's you get.

Ty bombed tonight, so it looks like clear sailing for Josh. It will make for a great story if Josh wins. Who'da thunk the guy with cerebral palsy would win it all? This is what the show is all about. The underdog triumphing. You really couldn't ask for a better ending even if they had scripted it.

Wow... I agree that Chris wasn't as funny toward the end, but why all the anger towards him? It's not like he was a jerk on the show or anything.

JasonF 08-09-06 08:53 AM

I thought Chris started the series very strong, but the last few weeks, his material hasn't been there. Of the three who performed last week, he was definitely the one who deserved to go -- but he's still a pretty decent comedian who could be well worth checking out down the line.

In terms of last night's performance, I thought both Josh and Ty gave relatively weak performances (but either one of them was still much funnier than both Rodriguez and Clarke). I think Ty was slightly funnier, so I guess I'm rooting for him.

DRG 08-09-06 09:29 AM

I have to say, Anthony Clark is one of the worst stand up comedians I've seen. He makes Jay Mohr look like a comedy god in comparison. Hmmm... maybe that's their plan?

All in all, not a great show. Josh had a few lines that made me grin but generally the same sort of stuff. Ty repeated a few jokes from the ealier rounds, and also didn't bring any real gut busters. The two Last Comic Downloaded performers weren't really great either. Theo actually had some clever stuff, but he should've had less "old dad" stuff and split his routine for two topics.

saoirse 08-09-06 02:24 PM

I'm glad Chris is gone. He was funny at the start, then he started to get an ego and was quite full of himself. Screw him.

I hope Josh wins, I don't like it when it's down to the last two and Ty's material I had mostly heard before.

The mexican guy sucked too. I don't know if it cause Carlos Mencia (the German joke thief) stole all his jokes and I heard them all already or what, but it was pretty lame.

The only laughs I got were from Josh.

I was thinking about this, and I believe his decline is probably due to him always using new material instead of repeating like Ty. Eventually you have to go to your "B" material.

movieking 08-10-06 06:17 AM

I kinda ff'ed the last couple of episodes, since all of the routines have been sub-par at best. There was no doubt that Josh was going to win.

Timber 08-10-06 08:47 AM

I zoned out on this show weeks ago so I can't speak on performing the same set. Just by watching last night I don't see how there is any way in hell that Josh is funnier then Tyrone. Different strokes I guess. One I think will be a working comedian while the other will just be a novelty act.

das Monkey 08-10-06 01:31 PM

Pretty disappointing. Josh Blue is a funny guy and seems like a nice person, but he was completely outclassed by Ty when it comes to stand-up. It's really unfortunate that the best guy didn't win.
