It's been cancelled so I would guess it would be series finale.

There were rumors of CW picking it up, but I think they may have been shot down.

I get the feeling the ending is going to be less than satisfactory.

I have the same feeling. I hope they cut different endings. I'd hate to watch a cliffhanger that never gets resolved.

It's like Carnivale all over again, a cliff hanger to end the series, i hope not. ABC is so not with it on, the Invasion page it calls this episode the season finale.

It REALLY pisses me off that they were advertising this right up to the end as the SEASON finale when they know full well it won't be back.

This show has been one of my favorite new shows of the season, and it breaks my heart that they let it run a full season before canning it. Can't believe they renewed a show that had worse ratings (What About Brian) and can this. At this point i'm down to only Lost for next season after losing Invasion and Alias. Dunno about any new shows yet, but this is turning into Fox part 2. (John Doe anyone?)

Someone has to pick this show up if ABC cans it. It's better than anything on any of the channels outside the networks. Fuck, I'm not so sure it's not my favorite even among the network shows!

They can't let the series end like that.

Maybe they kept billing it as Season Finale as they already know it will be picked up elsewhere if they can it.

It doesn't seem like a particularly high budget series, maybe Scifi will.

I don't consider that ending to be a cliffhanger. Everyone knows that she'll come back as a hybrid and the stuggle to deal with the entire situation continues.

If the series had ended with last week's episode, that would have been a cliffhanger.

Too bad Invasion isn't coming back. There aren't many shows this good on TV right now.

I would prefer that to nothing, but I'd want it to stay in HD if at all possible.

I don't think it matters though, the show is probably dead.

I have been sort of following the show, not so much recently, and missed it tonight. Can someone recap tonight's finale? Thanks in advance.

Okay no one else is bothering so I will give it a shot...

Spoiler:
Zura and the hybrid army are herding people from the warehouse into the ocean forcing them to jump off a pier into the water as it fills with alien sparks raining down from Hurricane Eve. The idea is to increase the hybrid population in with more townspeople to form a majority. Meanwhile Russell finds Mariel with four hybrid pregnant chicks who are about to pop (literally!)

Larkin and the kids are trying their best not to get herded and failing pretty miserably. Stoner Dave catches up with his camcorder to make some home videos of it all going down and manages to get through to the military to call for help.

Meanwhile Daddy Tom and his hot daughter find each other and get into a big truck which they drive into the middle of everything. He goes Rambo on the hybrid army and Russell somehow joins him and they mow half the guys down just as the military finally catches up and breaks the whole thing up. Zura escapes with Mariel and pregnant chicks.

Of course Russell and Daddy Tom go after her to rescue her. The one-armed deputy takes Daddy Tom's hot daughter home to make some time with her. In the middle of all this the high school kid's black friend goes nuts with some redneck friend of his and they decide Daddy Tom is to blame for everything and he needs to get killed. They kidnap Larkin and the kids and Stoner Dave and go to their house so the black dude can shoot him and solve all their problems.

Of course he's not home because he went with Russell to go rescue Mariel. Mariel figures out that the pregnant chicks need to give birth in the water being half-dolphin and all but just as Zura is about to slap her around Russell and Daddy Tom find them and they shoot it out. Russell and Mariel take off with the pregnant dolphin chicks because Mariel insists on taking them to the water against Russell's reservations...'God help us!' he says in one of the more cliched lines of the night. Daddy Tom eventually tracks Zura down and kills him.

Meanwhile Russell and Mariel have left the dolphin chicks in the water and we finally get some CGI effects out of this episode. The stingray aliens come and suck them down into the water apparently "helping" them. One of the dolphin chicks doesnt make it all the way into water and appears to be dead. Then we finally get a good eyeful of the stingray alien squirm out of the water and scoop her up and drag her in with it. (Sounds cooler than it looked. This show must have less budget then Xena Warrior Princess did!)

The one-armed deputy and hot daugher are hiding in the locked room in their house listening to what's going down outside as the black dude and his group arrive with their gun to do some justice. The deputy finally gets through to Daddy Tom on his radio and lets him know what is going on back at his house and Daddy Tom rushes back to save them.

He gets there and ends up letting the redneck dude take his gun just as the black dude decides this was a dumb idea after all and gives up. (Duh!)
Redneck dude decides he's gonna go out guns ablazing and squeezes a bullet off. Daddy Tom knocks him down but of course the bullet goes into the locked room and hits........

(pause for commercial break)

LARKIN! (God no, she was so hot!)

Of course they can't get her to a hospital so Daddy Tom decides the only way to save her is to offer her to the stingray aliens who will heal her and bring her back as a hybrid. Just as Daddy Tom watches Larkin float off to sea, Russell and Mariel drive up...'Isn't that Tom standing there by the ocean in the moonlight looking suspicious???'

Russell starts freaking out as he walks toward Daddy Tom who is covered in blood and backing into the water...'Tom, what's wrong!?!'

Fade to black.

What a shitty way to end the show. I agree, this show wasn't winning any prizes but it managed to stay compelling and was somewhat of a 'guilty pleasure'. Sorry to see it go. Hoping SciFi or some other channel decides to pick it up or we at least get a 2hour movie to wrap up the loose ends!

Hope my recap helped! (Thanks to OldDude for teaching me how to spoilerize )

It was a good episode on its own, but a crappy way to end the darn series. Christ. I just found out today it was canned, and then this. I got a mighty bitter taste in my mouth right now.

Simple. Instead of "color" commands, just enclose spoiler and /spoiler in square brackets []. It uses black text on black background, but you get a visual clue something is there from the black box.

From Salon's wrap-up of the finale:
The last few episodes of Invasion have been genuinely scary. Under cover of another hurricane, the town's human residents were herded into trucks and warehouses by hybrids disguised as National Guard troops and then forced shrieking into the water, either to be hybridized themselves or, if deemed second-rate by the aliens, drowned. And while we all know exactly which historical nightmare this was meant to invoke, as always the most painful moments were the separations of husbands from wives, brothers from sisters, parents from children. Perhaps Invasion was always too dark in its insinuations about the American family under attack from without and within, of loved ones who suddenly abandon you when a better life and identity beckon elsewhere, to really make it as Wednesday-night entertainment."

Anybody interested in trying to save the show, i found this petition online. I know it will probably not matter but it does not hurt.
