ABC seems to be relying too much on Reality fare.
Wife Swap"
"The Bachelor"/"Supernanny"
"Dancing with the Stars"
"America's Funniest Home Videos"
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"

With Lost on the bubble for me and Alias gone. I don't think I will be watching ABC much next season. You would think since they have a few hits they would be wanting to take more chances. Instead, they are just being lazy.
What's with all these new shows where something changes you forever or fate intervenes?

Same here. Brian Austin Greene (or the writers of his stuff) was pretty funny.

Wow, none of those new things sound good to me at all... I'll obviously wait for reviews, but I may just be watching 1 show on ABC next year (Lost). Even that may not happen -- if they schedule as many repeats as they did this year, I may just hold out for DVD.

Does it ever really work when you move your hit show up against the already established show?
From what I have read, Thursday nights are the most lucrative nights for advertising rates as that is when the movie studios like to run most of ads for movies opening that weekend.

So from a purely business/financial standpoint, it makes sense that ABC would want to put its hugest hit on the night where they can charge even more money for ads, plus they can use that to lead into a new show.

Since Grey's Anatomy is so huge with women, it might be smart counter-programming against CSI. I think a lot of women are tiring of crime shows (seeing all those women murdered every week is kind of a downer) plus you can always catch those episodes on reruns and not really miss much continuing storylines.

Grey's Anatomy should go against ER at 10pm on Thursday night where it actually might have a chance.

Going against CSI and NBC's anticipated Studio 60 is a great move on ABC's part.

grey's anatomy will get destroyed by csi.... why would they do that...
While I'm not a huge fan of this either (I was half hoping it would be Grey at 9 and Brian at 10 on monday's), it is honestly one of the best moves on ABC's part. CSI will take a hit in the ratings because of this (but so will 'Grey's Anatomy'), but with CSI taking that hit, it could lead to ABC winning more weeks in the ratings... Also, anything they put in that spot that is already grown roots will do better than what they've had for the last 5 years...

Grey's Anatomy currently has the built-in audience lead-in from Desperate Housewives. When it moves to Thursday, it's going to have no lead-in. In addition, CSI and Grey's Anatomy share a lot of the same viewers.

Plus, other then Crossing Jordan, it has no competition in its current timeslot.

Wow. ABC is really taking it to CSI. That will be an interesting battle. I don't think it will get killed. It may not win the slot, but I think it will put a sizeable dent in CSI's numbers.

Unfortunately, this will all but ensure that NBC will cancel Sorkin's show by the end of September.

Grey's Anatomy doesn't need the Housewives lead-in anymore. ABC is smart for using it as a lead-in for a new show.

Well, at least you've got "Brothers & Sisters". This time in Drama flavor! Too bad, I warmed up to S&D quite well.

Tell that to the masses bemoaning the move in the NBC thread just yesterday.

Maybe it's just the blurb writers, but none of those hour-longs sound remotely intriguing.

I think NBC's slate of shows is rock solid compared to this mess. The Mick Jagger robbing sounds like it might have potential. The only other show I have the slightest interest in is The Nine. I only care about it due to Tim Daly. ABC should have just kept Eyes -- I'm sure it would kick The Nine's butt.

I think ABC is clearly the loser network of upfronts, and we haven't even seen half of them yet. Even if CW's development was as terrible as rumored, they have the option of keeping lots of established shows.

I don't know about that. There are a lot of things NBC can do. I think the chance of the show being moved before it even airs is high. If that doesn't happen, I think they may try to debut it early and might then move it if the numbers start strong but go down quickly. They could move it to TWW's old home slot on Wednesdays at 9 pretty easily. That puts it against LOST, but the audience for the show shouldn't be identical to that for LOST.

You're dead on, my friend. The wise Thursday move would have been to kill ER at 10. I know why they didn't go that way, though -- they actually think they'll be able to sling any old crap into the Thursday at 10 slot now and be competitive. They are sorely mistaken.

Betty the Ugly is the Spanish remake of the awful but popular soap opera/comedy Betty la Fea. I predict that the misery will end at 6 episodes before it get canceled.

I don't think it will get moved before it airs. I just don't trust any network to cultivate any show nowadays, and the Sorkin show is going to get pummelled in that slot.

ER isn't the top-show in that timeslot. WAT is.

Grey's is such a strong performer now that you would have to stupid not to use it as a lead-in for something. Monday at 9 would have been the safe choice for ABC. They are taking a chance, but with CSI entering middle-age, I think it may be a chance worth taking, particularly since ABC hasn't been a player on Thursday nights (with the exception of Dancing with the Stars) in eons.

I must just be a sucker for the write-ups in the press releases...because I think a lot of the shows sound interesting. I'll watch a lot of them a time or 2 at the very least, then filter out the crap. "The Nine," "The Traveler," and "6 Degrees" all sound OK.
