My Name Is Earl -- Season Finale -- "Number One" -- 05.11.2006 -- 20 minutes EARLIER!

"Number One"

On the suggestion of Darnell (Eddie Steeples), Earl (Jason Lee) decides to cross off number one from his list, "stole ten dollars from a guy at the Camden Market." But Earl soon discovers he owes the guy more than ten dollars, in fact he he owes him all of his lotto winnings. Now penniless and desperately trying to continue with his list, Earl wonders when his karma is going kick in and turn his misfortunes around for the better. Ethan Suplee, Jaime Pressly and Nadine Velazquez also star.

This episode starts 20 minutes earlier - at 8:40.

Starting at 8:40pm - Cool! Can watch the 7-minute X-Men 3 preview on FOX from 8:30-8:37, and then switch over to NBC and soon after watch Earl.

Meh, weak episode for a finale. The funniest part was the Willie Wonka parody, with music, when Randy found a dollar. I was roaring at that one.

Not literal, but something like "thanks for watching Earl this season and join us next fall".

Interesting way to tie the final episode into the first episode, sets up a nice bookend there.

I was disappointed that they went with a resolution as opposed to a cliffhanger going into season 2, because the premise of Earl losing the cash could be a great tangent for several episodes.

I did enjoy the call outs to previous episodes, such as the one legged donut shop girl and the crazy hooker. This show has managed to create a universe for itself, much like The Simpsons, with a lot of great and memorable bit parts they can throw out there at any time.

This episode didn't bring much of the funny for me. And I didn't like that Earl suddenly became omnipotent when narrating the journey of the ticket. It takes away from the charm of Earl just telling his story.

That and the Wonka music were the highlights for me. It worked as a great bookend to the start of the season, but didn't bring a lot of the funny this week.

That lost a little something on me too. How the hell would he know how many people the ticket stopped in front of.

Overall not super funny, but it was still good. I'm glad one show on tv shows some restraint. Not EVERY single show on tv needs a cliffhanger.

I didn't think it was as funny as the previous week's, but I thought it was satisfying. I liked the floating ticket part and I thought Randy stole the show with his "hulk-like" anger at being so hungry...

I loved the hooker's line about "when the opium wears off and you've got a tambourine in one hand and a tiger's junk in the other it's time for a girl to come home."

Huh. I thought this was the funniest episode in weeks, and I liked the way they handled the whole story. While having no money next season might have led to some new story angles, I think they pretty much addressed all those types of storylines in this one episode. And they already did the 'Randy tries to get a job' storyline earlier this season.

The only question I have about this episode. How did they make those shots of Earl and that other guy getting hit by a car to look so real?

They found a guy who was dying and told him they'd give his family $100,000 after he's gone if he let himslef get hit by a car.

At least that's what my Dad used to tell me when I was 10 and asked similar questions. Thanks Dad!

For the last few episodes the "Day Hooker" has had more lines than Catalina.
