But on the positive front for Heroes, it was the #1 show in the 18-49 demo... We'll have to see how it does next week before we know how much that long hiatus hurt it.

DJariya 04-24-07 04:39 PM

I hope this is not the sign that all serial dramas must start in January now in order to avoid losing viewers.

Drive took a major nosedive in episode 4. I guess networks shouldn't launch high priced serial dramas so late in the season. It seems like there is pretty much no interest from viewers to watch them. 4.60 M viewers and a 1.8 in the 18-49 demo...IMO, the show is dead.

24's lowest rated episode of the season....Not a surprise considering Heroes returned. It still did pretty in the 18-49 demo.

Not to mention it had a terrible lead-in. IIRC, Prison Break usually got around 7-8m a week, so for 24 to add 6m viewers from Drive, it's not entirely terrible news.

hardercore 04-24-07 11:46 PM

Heroes has borrowed from Lost so much that they are now attaining pretty much the exact same ratings (in both viewer numbers and 18-49 demo)!!! Except that one airs at 9pm and has an 11m viewer lead-in while the other airs at 10pm and leads-out from something like 3 million viewers.

3. “Heroes” (NBC) 11.98m
4. “24” (FOX) 10.31m
Nice to see The King of Queens come out on top over Heroes & 24. I thought maybe Heroes would beat it because of the long break but it looks like Heroes took a 'Lost' in the ratings.

3. “The King of Queens” (CBS) 12.50m
4. “Two and a Half Men” (CBS) 12.23m
King of Queens actually gained viewers from two & a half men instead of losing some.

Anyone else find it odd that CSI:NY scores about the same audience new and repeat?

Anywho, Lost seems pretty content with its current 7.2/12 ratings. The repeat was just pitiful score-wise.

TheMovieman 04-26-07 03:16 PM

^ Serial dramas never do well in repeats. Lost, Grey's Anatomy and others (I don't seem to recall Fox ever running reruns of 24) seem to do around 3-5m when in repeats (no matter what night). But it is impressive that dispite pitiful lead-ins, Lost does as well as it does getting 11-12m per week...

They aired re-runs of 24 last season on Fridays, it bombed so bad they wound up jumping to the finale in 5 weeks.

Yeah, forgot about that...

hardercore 04-26-07 10:27 PM

First ever outright victory over CSI: NY for LOST in both viewers and key demo, when both shows are airing original episodes. Usually LOST will own CSI in the key demo but come second place by a small margin in total viewers. This is a great development, in addition to finishing second place on both counts for the entire night (to the Idol ratings juggernaut).

Scott27 04-26-07 11:10 PM

That's largely because last night's episode was the show's lowest-rated original episode (as was Lost).

TheMovieman 04-26-07 11:15 PM

Also remember that its lead-in, Criminal Minds, was a repeat... It'll be interesting to see if Lost still comes in first when CM is new. In any case, Lost still does quite well given its lead-in every week is horrible (usually getting only 5m, if that).

It was supposed to be a new episode but CBS decided not to air the episode due to 'Sensitivity issues'-what a bunch of garbage.
Finally Lost beat out CSI: NY but the ratings for both shows are nothing to write home about.

I call bullshit. The lowest rated original episode was 11.52 million and that was Exposé. Repeat or not, CSI:NY had a lead-in of nearly 10 million viewers, and built on it by 1.5 million. LOST lead-out from a LOST repeat which garnered between 3-4 million viewers and managed to improve by 7-8 million viewers. And still own CSI in the key demo and sneak a slight victory in viewers.

http://www.tvweek.com/news.cms?newsId=11951

But getting 100.000 more viewers than its lowest number is, of course, a huge victory.

Despite it's low viewership, I like that The Office still holds up relatively well in the key demo. That being said, I still hope Season 4 is its last.
