The problem for me this season is that they're not doing a good job of setting up anything big. I guess the biggest story so far is Vito, but they're building it up very slowly. I guess next is Phil trying to take over as boss, but thats happening too slowly too. Something has to happen in the next 3 episodes, I just don't know what it is. And call it blind faith, but I think it'll be good.

Chris' wife is really hot.

Good to see Chris and Tony bonding. I guess I'll go against the grain, and say I really enjoyed this episode.

This was my thought too: A lot of individual "moments" but no over-arching storyline or buildup. Even the Vito thing is not that compelling and has taken up too much time. It's still a great show (the beginning robbery w/Tony & Chris was great--"You're messin' with the Vipers!" What's that, your Girl Scout troop?"), but it seemed to go downhill after that. I did like the ending, Paulie sitting with his "ma," and I hope things really pick up steam shortly...

Yah, OK, that makes more sense now, but I always figured that when they meant to say thousands they would say "large" as in, '300 large'. But yah, 300K is a buttload of money...to shoot up his arm.

Why do people think it was $300K? For a couple of cases of wine??? Anyone remember the kind of wine it was? 1986 something or other... I certainly didn't get any impression that he got anything more than $300.00. Which sounded low but they were stolen goods - what do you expect?

I thought he was buying the house because he's about to be a dad.

Is it possible he meant $300 per bottle?

I have no idea how much a 20 year old vintage should cost, but 300K seems pretty steep.

It was 5 cases. So that is 60 bottles.

300K/60 = 5K per bottle. Not out of the realm of possibility.

If it was $300 total, you're talking $5/bottle. I don't think Tony and Chris are going to get in a shoot-out over 10 cases of Boones.

I know there was 5 cases so that would be $60k each. And how many bottles are in each case, 12? That would be $5k a bottle, that seems pretty damn expensive.

It definitely wasn't 300K. That doesn't make any sense. Those cases had 12 bottles. 5 cases. Total of 60 bottles. That's $5000 a bottle. No way. $300 a bottle I could see.

Agreed. On the other hand, however, I also don't think it very likely that they would stumble upon 2 bikers heisting $3-4 million worth of wine from the back of a restaurant in the middle of Pennsylvania. Additionally, I don't think Tony would have been storing several hundred thousand dollars worth of wine on a flimsy wooden rack next to the washing machine.

Not that I have an answer, either. $300 seems way too low, but $300,000 seems way too high.

Yeah, we'll never know. Maybe the $300/bottle figure is correct, although even then I find it hard to imagine Tony getting his own hands dirty over basically $36 grand.

Three hundred thousand, however, puts it in a new perspective.
I also thought $300 originally. But after the big to-do they made over the wine $300,000 sounds more like it.

Does anyone have a link to that blog that summarizes each episode? My Directv is done for (trees are in full bloom and have grown too tall), and I won't have cable until Saturday.

I liked Chris and Tony's exchange about the bikers and how they saw them behaving during the shootout/wine heist. It was even more interesting the second time in the basement. These guys love each other but if it's not about business they've got nothing to talk about.

Tony's remark about everyday being a gift "but does it have to be a pair of socks" was good. I think pretty soon Tony's going to have to face the fact that he can't be a Family man and a "family" man at the same time.

I don't think they had any idea what they were getting. They saw a couple of "bikers" taking liquor/wine out of the back of the store and thought it would be fun to grab a few bottles for themselves. It wasn't planned. Tony was taking a pee!

So - they grab a few bottles, the guys come back, Chris pulls a gun and a shootout ensues.

I seriously doubt Chris knew enough about wine to even ask for $5k a bottle - which I do think is outside of the realm of possibilities here. No way are you going to be able to unload 5 cases of stolen wine at $5k/bottle. Particularly if its all the same wine. (Not that I know by experience...)

Looked like Tony recognized the wine to me and he probably would have relayed to Chris how much it goes for. Given how much Tony has eaten out in his life, I'm sure he knows expensive wine when he sees it.

Do you think that Tony would have gotten Phil involved for 300 dollars worth of wine? 18k is possible though it just doesn't make sense with how Christopher said it. I'm sure Tony would have let him know approximately how much the wine was worth at some point in their trip.

Phil had nothing to do with the wine.

Did anyone notice that the name of Robert Iler was bumped up over the name of Jamie-Lynn Sigler?

Does that mean A.J. is a more important character than snotty Meadow now, because he tried to wack Uncle Jun?

Decent ep, though definitely not one of the best. As others have said, there was a strange tone this week. Instead of getting more business family, we got more regular family. It seems like Carmella might be getting more involved in the business. It seems that she is hearing and relaying more information to Tony than ever before. I was disappointed in the great speed in Christopher's decision to get married, finding out he was pregnant and all that. I mean, that was the first time we even found out that she existed.

And by the way, I also thought that Tony was going to upset his gunshout injury and end up dropping the baby. Oh, well. Maybe next week.

It seems like after every episode, we have some stupid discussion about some detail in the show that everyone argues about.

That said, no way do I think that he got $300K.

Next week's preview has a shot of Meadow crying.

Perhaps the AICN spoiler is about to come through?
