i hope they have a bigger battle budget for this one and they show at least part of the naval battle that Augustus fought against Anthony in Greece. Forgot the name and the details, but it was a big one.

i don't see how what I said could be a spoiler. everyone knows about anthony and cleopatra

Sadly I think you would be surprised how many don't. I still hear people talking about Gladiator being historically accurate.

Wasn't the big problem with season one that they were dumping way too much money into it and not seeing a return in the ratings? IIRC, Deadwood got cancelled solely because HBO had to cut spending somewhere, and since they were already comitted to a second season of Rome (despite it losing money), they cancelled Deadwood - the second most popular series they had behind The Sopranos.

So if they were that willing to get rid of their second-best show (which would have been their top show after Sopranos was done), I can't see them putting even more money into Rome. Unless something drastic happens, this should be the last season.

parts of it are accurate, it's more like based on history

with HBO cancelling six feet under, sex and the city and sopranos, deadwood and rome all winding down, with SHOWTIME cancelling queer as folk and dead like me. I cancelled hbo and showtime and all thier clones,I save about 75 bucks on my cable bill a month now. best decision I made in awhile, will watch Sopranos season 6 and Rome 2 on dvd.

$75 a month? You must have canceled a lot more than just the pay stations, right?

I've thought about it with Weeds, The Wire, and others being on hiatus, but I think ALL pay channels only cost me around $35 extra, and that has HD for Sho and HBO. That does translate into a lot of Netflix I could mess with, but the HD is what keeps me around.
