SNL 04/29/06 - Best of TV Funhouse

BEST OF TV FUNHOUSE
11:29pm 2006-04-29 ALL NEW!

From the familiar scruffy cartoon dog tearing through the host's portrait to the theme song and animated Lorne Michaels shouting, "Give Me Back My Show!" ? "Saturday TV Funhouse" has become a popular recurring feature on the legendary late night show since its first installment in 1996. The special will showcase the classic recurring series of "Funhouse" segments including "The X-Presidents," "Fun with Real Audio" and, of course, "The Ambiguously Gay Duo." TV-14 DLS
This morning as I was running errands, I was listening to Fresh Air with Terry Gross they reaired an interview with Robert Smigel from 1997, at the beginning of the popularity of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. You can hear the interview via their website after 3 PM EST on Friday, April 28th. Here's the link: Smigel Interview

I usually enjoy the funhouse stuff, but I wonder if 90 minutes worth will get old.

I'll watch, there are some really funny bits in there. Although, I would rather watch 90 minutes of Triumph.

Well compared to MOST of what passes for a skit on SNL these days?

I'm there! (Or rather my DVR is there.)

I hope last week's "Disney Vault" segment is included in this. I think that's the best one Smigel's done yet!

The "Fun With Real Audio" skits were always my most favorite. Hope to see some in there.

whew! I was worried that Jimmy wouldn't be able to find enough time in his busy schedule to make a cameo appearance...

I'm surprised how many of those I have not seen or don't remember.

The Disney Vault one was pure Platinum.

This is the only SNL I've watched all the way through in more than a decade. Some really funny stuff, but I can't believe what they get away with in these Fun House skits. I'm surprised the Disney lawyers weren't all over them for the Vault segments... they are notoriously protective of their copyrights.
