The judge on Perry Mason who also played a bad guy on many Three Stooges short films. His name escapes me at the moment.

Is this the guy you're talking about?

Ward Cleaver?

Archie Bunker?

You guys aren't even trying.

How about Alf? Mr. Hankey? The Blob from B.J.'s Gigglesnort Hotel? There's a million of them.

I think what the OP really means is the most unbelievable "realistic" character.

Mathew on Newsradio. No one could be that stupid. In one episode we even learn that he was a dentist.

I grew up close to where he was supposed to live and his character was truly like the people of that time in that neighborhood. The amazing thing about All in the Family is that if you watch it now, it still seems fresh and cutting edge. Really an amazing show, anchored by one of the greatest and most real TV characters ever.

My vote also goes to "when I put a hoodie on I'm invisible" Jack Bauer.

Joey on Friends. I'm tempted to say the entire main cast, but the others at least resembled real people most of the time. Joey was even ok some of the time, but whenever the lazy ass writers were hard up for a laugh, they instantly made him stupider than a kindergarten student.

I vote for Sigmund the Sea Monster:

Seriously, who would believe a sea monster would run away from home cause he didn't want to scare anyone? That's what sea monsters do..they scare!
