Big Love - "Roberta's Funeral" 4/16/06

Spoiler:
Bill heads to Juniper Creek to attend the funeral of his father Frank's first wife Roberta, and to make Roman a settlement proposal he may or may not be able to refuse. Lois sees Roberta's demise as an opportunity to rise to First Wife. Meanwhile, Barb bails Nicki out of a jam at Home Plus, and Ben ponders whether he has what it takes to follow in his father's footsteps.

The most annoying character cough-Nikki-cough on tv cranks it up a notch.

Great series, just an OK episode. The best part seemed to be the previews for next week.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Nice to see/learn more on the family structure of polygamists (first wives/deaths in the family/his crazy dad). I agree that next week is going to be crazy.

Bruce Dern reminds me of Jon Savage as Hack Scudder on Carnivale.

Is Nikki trying to monopolize Bills time by faking wanting to get pregnant? Those were birth control pills she was taking?

Yeah, that's certainly what it's looking like.

How many more episodes before Ben and Margene sleep together? Man is that one coming.

I still love this show. I like the interaction between the Barb and Nikki. Barb really seems to care about her, although it's a struggle to do so at times -- just like a sister.

Next week looks like a real show-stopper.

Then again, Lost makes me say that every week, and we all know NOTHING happens on that show.

I agree but give Sopranos a few more episodes and Meadow may give her a run for her money.
It did seem that next week was going to be much more exciting. I did enjoy the episode.

I.
It certainly looks that way. They are much closer in age, he's interested in sex, she's lonely. With the wrong cast, this show could be laughably bad but it is perfectly cast. Very believable. The store manager is obviously going to figure things out now. That will be interesting. Does anyone else find Roman's super young wife just really creepy. Obviously he is too, but she is maybe worse.

There is one crucial difference however. Meadow is far easier on the eyes. I can see a man putting up with her bullshit.

Yeah, I find Roman's young wife to be ultra-creepy. Pretty good ep. It looks like Ben is really starting to crush on Margene. Like has been said, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before something happens between them. But then again, the writing has been on the wall for that one for quite a while.

And Nikki just keeps going lower and lower. I can't believe the stunt she pulled at the store (or the birth control for that matter). I thought it was funny that the cashier at the store was the same actress who played the girl with the retainer who worked at the fast food restaurant in that one episode of My Name Is Earl.

She was Samara in The Ring'

Just about everyone from the compound comes off as creepy.

Bill's dad was hilarious. I liked the coffin buying scene.

Yeah its amazing what a man would put up with if the woman has a hot body(and vice-versa). I think the money issue is the reason Bill puts up with Nikki though.

I didn't see this week's ep yet but I do remember her giving Roman's dickhead son shit for telling her to shut up. She did it in a cold, "Don't fuck with me or else..." kind of manner. She's playing the young innocent role but I have a feeling that she may be trouble.

the nikki/barb stuff is getting good.. found it interesting that nikki was screaming to bill to "give me a boy", while she told barb that she wanted a girl "for her"..
