I'm not sure what Vito is gonna do, but if he gets killed for being gay, then that's harsh, but if he gets killed for being irresponsible and starting a family and such, with the knowledge that he liked men, then I can understand/stomach that a lil bit better.

As for the bar scene, there are many over-the-top leather bars just like that in the tri-state area. So I hear.

I have to agree that the beating looked like a setup. Since that guy seems to be just starting out in Tony's crew then he'd probably do anything to get a bump, even get his ass handed to him.

Out of curiousity, if a fed got too close for comfort for Tony and co. or pissed them off too much, would they crack and whack the agent? I'm surprised they haven't whacked an actual agent by accident yet, or had an undercover one infiltrate a las Donnie Brasco. If they discovered someone was an agent would they whack them?

I was kinda bummed to see the new driver get the beatdown. He looked like he had the stuff to be the new Furio and I was looking forward to him doing some enforcement. Not sure if we'll ever see him back again or not now...

I loved how Melfi ended-up pushing Tony back to his old ways. Not that he probably wouldn't have ended up there anyways, but her advice cofirmed to Tony that it was appearances that mattered.
And as to why Vito didn't just off those two guys, he felt sure they told everyone as soon as they left that place. That's why he woke Silvio up at 3am and tried to find out if anything was up to see if the news was out.

Maybe it's just me, but Tony was just one gut-punch away from dying have the muscles from Brussells got a clean shot to the solarplexis.
I also LOL'd at the "How about a mercy f-ck?" line.

I agree, I think it isn't as easy as you think to whack two guys in a second, I mean if Vito takes out one of the guys, probably the other will have time to take a shot at him. I mean these guys aren't like Eastwood in High Plains Drifter!

As far as Vito goes, I see only three options. The first was to whack the two guys that saw him (I doubt he had his gun on him in the club, though he could have). He didn't do that. His second would be suicide, and while this still might happen, I don't think Vito is going out that way. As I see it, his only other out is to turn state's evidence against Tony and go into the witness protection plan so he can maintain the one 'lifestyle' that means anything to him. No way he sticks around as a capt. after being seen dressed like the Village People.

As I've said before, the boss is the guy most feared by the rest of the gang. Tony knew he was being looked on as in a weakened state and had to show he was still someone to be feared. But you're right about the fact that "Penne Arrabiata" woulda kicked his ass in real life.

I really don't think Tony's beat down on Mussels Marinara was a set up. If it was Mussels would have have to be killed immediately.

No way that was a set-up. Tony knew he needed someone who would fit back. The smart guy would take a beating rather than fight back because getting your ass handed to you is better than getting killed for beating up on the boss. When they were driving and he started to get out of the car to 'talk' to the guy who cut him off, Tony recognized that this guy had serious anger issues (roids?) and would snap easily.

I was thinking Christopher would maybe call in the feds to report the Arabs trying to get guns. Didn't he say before how they would refuse to help terrorists? But if he doesn't turn them in, I bet he does get brought up on terror-related charged. Maybe the Arabs are actually FBI themselves? Is there any reason to know for sure that they aren't?
Overall, a pretty good ep, although I could have gone without seeing Tony throw up like that at the end. I was very happy that we got to see Melfi again, with a session with Tony to boot. I still would love to see her meet with Carmella more though.

I agree that while the leather bar was over the top, it was also perfectly believable. on the flip side, i've been in some dives where the mullets and AC DC tshirts made it feel like I stepped into a wormhole that deposited me right back in 1983. I would imagine the timewarp factor would actually be part of the appeal. And I've certainly seen all the chains, assless chaps, and whatever else for sale in adult shops.

Definitely seemed like a setup to me.
Great episode. Enough with this Kevin Finnerty stuff (although I do expect to see it again this season). I was reading an article about Vito, and the actor himself said that he suggested that Vito be gay, after reading a book based on a similar real life character named Vito.
Looks like Meadow will be walking down the aisle soon. At least Finn won't have to worry about Vito, seemingly.
