Hello All,

Got into a conversation with the wife recently about two comperable basic cable hosts, and wanted your opinion.

Both of these girls have been described as mascots for their respective networks, but both are very different in overall personality and demeanor.

So, which do you prefer?



On the Travel Channel, Samantha is the host of Great Hotels, Passport to Europe, and Girl Meets Hawaii among others.



On the Food Network, Rachel is host of 30 Minute Meals, $40 a Day, and Inside Dish, among others.

I am not talking about physical appearance or attractiveness, I am talking about which do you feel is more entertaining to watch (or which is less annoying, for that matter). I am fairly certain I know who will win, but I don't want to lend any bias just yet. Thanks!

I'm a guy, I cannot separate their physical appearance from the equation. Samantha has it all over Rachel. Rachel Ray has man-hands, and seems to be getting puffier every time I see her (that pic of her you posted is probably old).

But Giada De Laurentiis destroys them both, at least in terms of physical appearance.

I am a guy as well, and understand that it is a tough one. Yes, that photo is from a few years ago (probably right around age 30 for Rachel), as I wanted to post two comperable photos to be fair.

The one you mentioned is a little too Hollywood for me. For "comfort" shows, I like to see someone a little more girl next doorish. For Hollywood hotties, I will watch Las Vegas or something similar.

I stumbled upon a bunch of folks (I think on Livejournal) who hate Ray, and I think that is what puts her on top in my book. You know you're big when the people hate you. Beyond that, they were so funny about it. One of them called her a smelly pirate hooker. Tell me that isn't classic.

I preferred the old Rachael Ray, before she got so hyper and coked-up acting. The Food Network isn't doing her any favors by airing her new episodes of 30 Minute Meals back to back with the old episodes. The difference is striking. She used to be calm and likeable and now she is just all manic and raspy-voiced.

I have no idea who the Travel Channel chick is. I don't watch anything on that network.

If you watch the Food Network for a few hours you will see who Rachel Ray is at some point. Conversely, if you watch the Travel Channel for the same few hours, you will see Samantha Brown at some point. Both are girls that host several programs on each network. Samantha is cheesy perky (gets overly excited about lotions in the bathroom of hotels), and Rachel is a slightly raspy voiced budget chef that cooks meals in 30 minutes and looks for restaurant bargains in various cities, in a nutshell.

They're both equally average to good looking and both annoying, but at the end of the day Rachel will cook me dinner while Sam will just talk about all the places we should go. I pick Rachel.

I pick Samantha over Rachel for the simple fact that I've never heard of, much less seen Rachel Ray.

I honestly wouldn't even know who Samantha Brown was if it wasn't for the fact that her show is on at the same time I flip around the tube before work. And I basically stay on her show for her tight body and not the great hotels she visits.

Rachel Ray over Samantha Brown? Are you fucking kidding me? Besides the fact that her voice sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard to me, she looks like the fucking Joker!! Every time she smiles, I think of Jack Nicholson, for God's sake. *shudder* Samantha Brown is way hotter.

My wife loves Rachael Ray so I'm subjected to her "30 Minute (Same Ingredients Always) Meals. I've seen a rather horrific transformation from a nice and perky, decent looking young lady to someone who when I close my eyes reminds me of Harvey Firestein with a cold. Her puffiness is quickly becoming thickness which will quickly become gross. Samantha's always been annoying, but much hotter. When she hops into the hotel beds I wish the show would take a rather different turn...
