"The Amazing Race'' makes a change
Charlie McCollum, 02:41 PM in Charlie McCollum, TV

Fans of "The Amazing Race'' haven't been too happy with the show or CBS this season. First, the fall cycle of the reality show involved a "family'' version of the race that didn't click with viewers.

Then, for the current cycle, the series was moved to 10 p.m. Tuesdays where viewership slumped because a lot of the audience liked to watch "Race'' with their kids who were in bed by 10. (The fact it was up against "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'' didn't help.)

So, to boost ratings, CBS announced on Thursday that starting next week, "Race'' will air at 8 p.m. Wednesday in front of "Criminal Minds'' and "CSI: NY.'' The competition won't be as tough either although Fox's "Bones'' and NBC's "Deal or No Deal'' have been doing pretty well in that time period.

The 10 p.m. Tuesday slot will be filled by repeats of CBS drama, probably police procedurals like the "CSI'' shows. The two freshman comedies that had been filling the 8 p.m. Wednesday hour -- "Out of Practice'' and "Courting Alex'' -- go to the bench for the foreseeable future, suggesting their chances of renewed are now down to about zero.

Thank you CBS

Does this mean the ''frat boys" will suddenly be less horny  and there will no longer be gratuitous shots of Monica's cleavage?

They better not cut Lake's haul asses and sumbitches.

You know what's funny I'm reading Bill of Team Guido's comments and he had this to say..

Good news!

clemente 03-30-06 06:21 PM

I may have been one of the few people who really liked Out of Pratice. Oh well.

Damfino 03-30-06 06:24 PM

Fine with me. It makes a good lead-in for "Lost" although I'm sure that's not what cbs had in mind.

Y2K Falcon 03-30-06 07:47 PM

Great. They musta heard of my Bones/OTH/Americas Next Top Model/Freddie clusterfuck at that time slot.

Fuck Les Moonves. :grunt:

Red Dog 03-30-06 07:55 PM

It's a good move but I guess I'll have to watch it live next week as I am away from home until next Friday and can't adjust my DVR. It was also pretty stupid to wait until today to do this - they should have announced it at the end of episode on Tuesday.

I am sure they wanted to see how Out of Practice and Courting Alex did last night in the ratings before pulling the plug and making the switch. I don't watch much on CBS but they appeared to promote the two shows moving to Wednesdays heavily on the shows that I did watch, so I am sure they were disappointed with the result. It really wasn't fair to either shows as neither could have archored that time slot. Even King of Queens did so-so in that slot.
I would imagine they would promote the TAR switch on Survivor tonight or during NCAA basketball.

yep. they did.

movieking 03-31-06 05:04 AM

Sweet! The show was too late for me to watch, so I would tape it and watch it in the morning.

Chew 03-31-06 05:57 AM

Good news.

garmonbozia 03-31-06 03:00 PM

Love this news. I hate shows I like being on at 10pm. Also The Amazing RAce bing on at 10pm is just a stupid idea. It's a family-friendly show and 8pm is perfect for it. The only other show I watch on Wed at 8pm is One Tree Hill.
Now'll I watch TAR live and tape OTH.

BDB 03-31-06 03:47 PM

Man I didn't realise this was such a big deal, I just watch it when it's on no matter the time. But glad it's making people happy.

Mok 03-31-06 04:09 PM

Monica's cleavage:drool:

misstiff75 03-31-06 07:03 PM

I'm kinda disappointed, i watch America's Next Top model at that time. The 10 o clock slot worked for me.

UWSarge 03-31-06 08:55 PM

Yes! No more staying up late to watch it or having to get a recording of it.

madara 04-04-06 02:12 PM

So translation for the slow this is now 8pm eastern time? Otherwise this new slot would be on same time as Lost and that would majorly suck for me.

BDB 04-04-06 02:28 PM

8pm est and pst, not sure about you lot in the middle.

Groucho 04-04-06 02:31 PM
