I thought it was 2 hours?

Last night right at 11pm, I started getting busy signals so my region was cut off.

I used DialIdol and I was able to get around 375 votes in during the 2 hours.

Yeah, they should start an American Idol electoral college.

In no particular ranking -

Lisa - picked a song way above her pay grade. Truly unlistenable, and she only got more out of tune as the song progressed. She looked beautiful last night, and it was sad to see her so devastated after the panel scorched her.

Kellie - pretty generic country song - unless she's trying to mobilize her base. Are there a lot of country fans votin'?

Ace - why this guy is still on is amazing to me - he makes me long for the song stylings of Kevin

Chris - Creed sucked, Chris sucks.

Mandisa - that is the absolutely biggest ass I've ever seen... she only seems able to sing at a high volume - her vice sounds weak and tinny in the lower register

Katherine - generic wannabe pop star drivel

Bucky - in his element and still nothing special

Taylor - I got what he was doing, but again somewhat generic.

Paris - Another fine performance - that's two in a row, so maybe a strong finish is in her future. What's up with clown makeup. There's plenty of color in that pretty face - why doll it up?

Elliot - seemed disoriented and under-rehearsed. He is one unattractive man.

Simon was as honest and on point as I've ever seen him, outshining his co-judges by a mile, while Randy was inarticulate and Paula fatuous.

Randy Jackson is a black whigger.

Other changes to make next year (though I know it won't happen)...make it so you can vote the worst person out. Too many shitty people stick around way too long because they have a fan base.

Wow. You sound like my wife... bitch, bitch, bitch. Seriously, I'm not trying to knock you. I understand that the performances weren't good. I agree. But if you feel like this about the judges and the voting system, why do you bother with this stuff? I mean this is the fifth freaking version of Idol. The ratings are gold. If it ain't broken, don't fix it they say. They aren't changing anything. That has to be pretty obvious to everyone.

Check out Veronica Mars next week. It will be a rerun, but it's still good TV.

Patman 03-29-06 08:32 PM

Ah, damn, I let me animosity for Bucky sway me from picking him over Lisa in my office pool, otherwise, I would have gotten the bottom 3 right and scored a ton of points, unfortunately I get nothing because I didn't go with Lisa as the bootee this week.

Daytripper 03-29-06 08:32 PM

Next week is country, huh? What on earth will Chris do? Three Doors Down? Wait, that's just white trash.

He'll just find a country version of a rock song.

Or he'll do Cotton Eyed Joe.

Well, there is a definite pattern with dialidol. It seems to always get two of the bottom three correct (even the big surprises like Katharine) yet the one going home never makes their bottom 3. After the bottom 3 were announced I called the loser correctly due to this dialidol trend.

Isn't it amazing that just two weeks ago Lisa being in the bottom 3 was a big shocker. Now just two weeks later absolutely no one including Lisa was surprised in the least that she got the boot tonight. That is the quickest fall from grace since George Huff a couple of years back. Personally even with a painful performance last night (and tonight) there are several worse than her.

Looks like Ace is now the odds on favorite to sing twice next week.

onebyone 03-29-06 08:41 PM

Before the show, Dialidol posted a change to the numbers ranking them like...

Taylor Hicks ----- 25.08433734939
Kellie Pickler --- 20.97590361445
Chris Daughtry --- 16.53012048192
Paris Bennett ---- 11.09638554216
Elliott Yamin ---- 11.03614457831
Mandisa ---------- 9.97590361445
Bucky Covington -- 9.73493975903
Lisa Tucker ------ 8.77108433734
Katharine McPhee - 8.36144578313
Ace Young -------- 8.19277108433
The new method seems to work pretty well. I hope he keeps it up.

Lisa leaving was way too predictable, but I will take it. She's good, but not good enough to be a star just yet. Still, having Ace in the bottom and not seeing him go seems so wrong. Hate. Him.

Daytripper 03-29-06 08:42 PM

I despise Ace. Really want him to go next.

To be honest, this is only my second full season of watching American Idol. watched the other season where Ruben Studdard won simply because he was the first contestant from Birmingham that made it that far and the entire city was buzzing the whole time. I usually just watch the auditions for the horrible people and then dump it once they go to Hollywood.

But now we have a DVR and it makes watching this season of AI a whole lot easier. I seriously watch the performances and Simon's comments only and then find out the loser the next day in the paper.

Judging by the quote you took from me, I guess you think Paula is an outstanding asset to the show then? You think the voting is completely fair and that Randy is not obnoxious??? I thought these were obvious statements thatmost everyone would likely agree with...but then again, I know there is a rabid audience out there that loves the show with all it's faults and you must be one of them. To each his own.

By the way...more bitching. I did catch tonight's show and Shakira (another sp?) was terrible. She deserved to be on the previous show with all the other poor performances. Actually, most of the AI performances from last night were head and shoulders above hers. And Wyclef Jean lip-synching...pathetic. Is this what constitutes as talent in the current music industry? No wonder the current crop couldn't find decent songs to sing over the last 6 years.

Patman 03-29-06 09:00 PM

I'm telling ya, if Simon praises your performance, watch out!!! It's almost better to sing crappy and have Simon slag you so you get that pity vote from your fanbase.

Jadzia 03-29-06 09:03 PM

Simon looked like he wanted to critique the Shakira/Wyclef Jean performance but was holding his tongue.

How do you critique a lip sync? ;)

moocher 03-29-06 09:06 PM

You know, when they narrowed this group down to the top 12, I thought it was the best top 12 yet. Now I'm starting to feel that last years was better. I remember when Jessica Sierra got eliminated at #10 last year thinking she was as good or better than any the year before (including the winner Fantasia) . This group is talented but there are more clunkers in the mix.

Patman 03-29-06 09:06 PM

By lip-syncing the critique.

magiccmom 03-29-06 09:12 PM

Couldn't understand a word Shakira said either....or Wyclef. Maybe they are forgetting to turn the microphones on? It seems the band is tooo big for the performances. They need to tone it down.

Katharine seemed humbled for the first time since she has been on the show. Kinda knew it was coming, when Ryan said "What have you done America?" Did Kelly ever make it to the bottom 3?

Guess Bucky and Kelly will be in their element next week. Maybe after the Suds in the Bucket fiasco, she will sing something like "Strumming my Banjo and Picking my Teeth."

Loved Taylor dancing with the gray haired lady in the Ford Commercial.

Brak55 03-29-06 09:30 PM

I missed it. Who was the bottom 3?

I think some people just got over confident. The first people eliminated weren't very good and the others thought they would just be immune every week.

Anyone know how much marketing crap they have to do? Maybe they didn't get enough practice time due to photo shoots and whatever?

twikoff 03-29-06 09:55 PM

well.. lisa went home, as i expected
was a bit surprised that bucky wasnt bottom 3, but i think its a good sign that i underestimated the voters..
good to see not they arent just voting for the pretty boy and fake snobby chick that has a pretty good body

maybe true
but this is also coming off a terrible night where all 10 of them performed worse than normal
