Well, like everyone else, I want 8 trillion episodes of AD, all of them at the highest level of quality. But that's not possible, and I would rather see it go out at the top of its game.

Hopefully, Hurwitz is hard at work developing his next show, and hopefully, that one will actually catch on with the public (only to suffer a precipitous decline in quality and be taken over by John Wells in later seasons. Wait, that's not right).

I don't get Hurwitz's position. If Fox had given a full commitment this season, he would have done 9 more episodes which is 3less than what Showtime would have committed to for the fourth season. Is Hurwitz admitting that any further shows done on Fox for the third season would have been lousy? In essence, Fox did the right thing by pulling the plug? Doesn't make sense to me. I wonder if Hurwitz felt that he was not being compensated enough under the Showtime deal, and that's why he nixed the offer. If he really felt that he could not have done a 12 episode fourth season, he would have known from the beginning.

It must've been something like a lowball offer, or there is some other part of the story we don't know about.

I don't see it that way myself. It was clear to me that the last 2 eps (especially the final one) had about 3-4 eps worth of material crammed into them. I forget the exact timeline but they got word after the 3rd or 4th filmed ep that Fox was pulling the plug. I figured they had to go back and do a bunch of re-writes so they could at least have some closure to it. After that, to come up with a whole new arc would probably be too taxing for Hurwitz et al. at this point. Of course, the only way I figured the show could be continued if the Showtime/ ABC deal was accepted was for the last ep to be a 'Bobby Ewing's Dead' dream arc... Michael wakes up and realizes he's still stuck with his family and season 4 begins.

What I want to know is what happened to Steve Holt? Did he ever find that hand in the park?

I'm sad, but also glad they went out in style. AD, you will be missed.
