That's a good idea. And that way we wouldn't be sitting here bitching about a guy who was brought back onto the show and given a place in the semifinals without even winning a fight.

This would have been a real good idea...Instead of just putting someone who got beat into the semi's. Oh well, hopefully they will correct if something like this happens again.

Since they have a set schedule for episodes, they wouldn't be able to add an extra, but I'm sure they could've squeezed a fight into one of the existing episodes. Even if it was just one round. They could've easily eliminated 5 lousy minutes of footage of these idiots bitching or breaking shit in the house.

zuffy 05-25-06 10:05 PM

This fight suck between Ed and Danny. It was pretty obvious that Danny has no chance of winning but all that smack talks from Ed is just hype. He's not as good as he think he is. If he ever fight Tito in his current state, Tito will beat the fucking daylight outa Ed. Just ask Ken

SexualPudding 05-26-06 04:38 AM

Ed is a decent fighter, but he is way too much of a legend in his own mind. Tito would bitchslap him. Danny was completely outgunned, almost exactly how Mike Stine was in the first fight against Kalib. He did catch Ed with a really nice shot at the very beginning, though.

If I were any of the other guys in the house with Ed, I would have told him to shut the fuck up by now. I can't even count how many times he has gone on and on to the other guys about how he is the best fighter there.

It's very difficult to decide who to root for each week, since almost every contestant is a huge asshole.

JHosk 05-26-06 07:14 AM

I have to agree with Charlie's comment. Each week they make one of the dude's look like a real knob. Up until last night's show, I was under the impression Danny was a fairly quiet and laid back dude. Then last night, they show him talking smack, even after getting his ass handed to him in the fight.

I'm still digging the show, but I think from here on out I'll be taping it, and skimming through. Last night's episode had me bored to tears.

I got the same impression too. "I am a UFC fighter now" I bet that's what he will be telling his friends, family, and the kids he teaches.

My thought exactly. I think they must have chosen these particular people BECAUSE they're arrogant and loud-mouthed and annoying--just to make it "interesting" rather than have a bunch of strong silent types sitting around waiting to brawl.

BBEANLPHIE 05-26-06 02:31 PM

Its obvious Danny himself gave that arm up for an armbar. Anyone that even does any jiu jitsu knows to never leave your arm out. I mean he basically fully extended it to the perfect position to get armbarred. It seemed like a white belt class taking place. He left it all the way out there and straightened it out for ED. I mean yeah he was possibly hurt and gassed, but I doubt that once he tapped he got up and was fine afterwards calling himself an Ultimate fighter. He just wanted to get the name of fighting in the octagon he never wanted to win the thing or try his hardest. So sad but True. Anyone disagree?

I don't know anything about jiu jitsu, but I thought it was odd the way he practically offered his arm to be locked up. I don't know if it was inexperience or him just giving up. They'll probably badmouth him next week.

Yeah. As a huge mma fan, really all I want are the fights, so I've pretty much resigned myself since season two to just tuning in for the last half hour, see who gets picked, see what they have to say, watch the fight. The rest doesnt matter to me.

The 'I'm an Ultimate Fighter line' had me

Tito looked like he just wanted to punch him. I think that first punch Danny caught Ed with knocked him back into reality and that's when he took over. Danny looked like stuck his arm out trying to regain his balance. I can easily see Ed in the middleweight finals. He talks a lot, but he is a good fighter.

Bisping is a riot though, him and Hamill together is some good comic relief. I'm really curious to see how he does against Nickels next week.

clckworang 05-26-06 11:13 PM

Pretty predictable fight last night. I don't anyone was thinking Danny was going to pull it off, but he did practically gift wrap that arm bar for Ed.

I don't remember anyone mentioning this before, but has anyone gone to the Spike Web site and read the He Said/He Said feature they have? It has Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar each writing separate columns on their impressions of the previous episode. Some of it is pretty entertaining, especially Forrest.

But a couple of things that really stood out was their comments on the episode where Noah left. Both of them were pissed that Noah even received the letter and were confused at how he got it or who would have delivered it. But probably the most interesting thing was Stephan said that the note was accusing Noah of cheating on his girlfriend with another GUY and that this part was left out of the show.

BBEANLPHIE 05-27-06 01:44 AM

Another guy? LOL. Ultimate Brokeback fighter.
Last nights episode was very homoerotic. Alot of UNmasculine thing were taking place before the fight.
I can't wait to see Matt fight next week. From the clips we see from the preview his wrestling is superb. It seems like he tosses people around like rag dolls but then again the question is what can he do after he tosses someone. We shall see!!!

Reminder : in case someone missed the 50 million ads for UFC 60 in the news papers , Xbox live, TV ads, etc... It is taking place May 27th Saturday!!!!

FantasticVSDoom 05-27-06 05:58 AM

Finally got to see the show...Im wondering how Danny even got on the show in the first place? He didnt seem to know anything about fighting on the ground. I dont think Ed looked that impressive, but he didnt really have a chance to show anything.

tbird2340 05-27-06 07:35 AM

Pretty boring ep.. Hey.. Did everyone here know that Ed was picked last?? Did you also know he his the best fighter on the show?

Man, what a freakin punk.. I so wish he would fight Tito so someone could bring him down to earth.

BBEANLPHIE 05-27-06 02:47 PM

Matt is in deep trouble. Royce seems to have been hitting the gym and drinking protein shakes. =)

Wow, I think that's the best shape I can remember seeing Royce in, although I guess it didn't help him too much in the long run.

Maybe, just maybe that picture is photochopped.;)

BBEANLPHIE 05-29-06 01:22 PM

I believe it is photochopped also. lol

misc comments

Nice photoshop. I was laughing. Good stuff.

I just think that there is too much drama. Cutting out the challenges, however lame some of them might have been, left too much time in the show. Said time had to be filled with something...hence we get Days of Our Lives:Ultimate Fighting Challenge Edition

I like characterization & I know that TPTB do it via selective edits. No need to overdose on it though. Further, Charlie & JHosk are right, virtually each week TPTB are editing the characters into a classic 'bad guy' v. 'good guy' type of confrontation.

TPTB are obviously still tinkering with the format of the show.

As a topic of discussion for everyone reading this thread:

1) What have been your favorite features of Season 1, 2, and 3 (thus far)?

2) Same as Q1, only for dislikes?

3) How would you combine your likes plus any new features if you were in charge of season 4?

BBEANLPHIE 05-30-06 12:40 AM

Season 4 is in the middle of filiming right now. The next season has veterans on the show and the format from what I have read and heard is that the winner of the show gets a shot for the title instead of a 6 figure contract as the goal.

FantasticVSDoom 05-30-06 04:29 PM

Any word on who the coaches are for the 4th season? I dont know if having the winner having a title shot is the best idea...So lets say you are going to have an up and coming fighter immediately fight Chuck Liddel at 205 or Rich Frankiln at 185? Um I guess anyone can win on any given day, but I dont see that being a great idea

So whats everyone's prediction for the rest of the current season? Who does everyone seeing in the Semi's and the winners?

BBEANLPHIE 05-30-06 04:57 PM

Well for the 4th season it will have veterans . Heres a link for more info on this. Season 4 debuts on August 17th.
