the Sopranos -- "Mayham" -- 03.26.2006

"Mayham"

Silvio divides the spoils from Paulie's latest score, and heads off a territorial impasse between Bobby and Vito. Carmela turns to an unexpected source for help with AJ; Christopher turns to an old writing acquaintance, JT Dolan, for help in a new venture.

It sounds like things really pick up tonight. I still say last weeks episode was one of the best episodes of the entire series

I'll just put in a pre-emptive "you can all kiss my hairy ass" before I start commenting on this episode tonight.

If Tony looks good, I'm going to say so. If you can't handle it, then by all means, put me on "ignore." No skin off my nose.

I wonder if we may see some conflict down the road since Vito seems to be close to Phil Leotardo while Chris is involved in developing a movie with Little Carmine.

Great Ep.

1) Edie Falco deserves the Emmy more than ever.

2) I kind of sense a Macbeth type scenario brewing with either Sylvio or Bobby; Syl has his wife playing Lady Macbeth, that much is obvious.

3) I wonder if that movie Christopher is toying with really will get made? Seems likely with all they crap we have nowadays.

4) I bet grunter flipped over seeing Tony's big furry chest!

P.S. Nice touch having Steve Buscemi play "death." (He was listed simply as "man" in the credits, but I think it's a fairly accurate assessment that he was supposed to be the reaper.)

I know it's early, but I told you guys that AJ isn't getting in the buisness or wacking Uncle Junior.

I doubt AJ will be able to get close to Uncle Junior, as it is now evident that Chrisopher and the rest of the family will be watching him. Of course there's always the chance a member of another family might be able to manipulate AJ and get him close...

Buscemi was a great touch .... was the woman on the porch in the house supposed to be his mom? that's kinda what I thought.

I almost got a little choked up with Sil went in to see Tony

Poor old Sylvio. Can't take the pressure of being number one, eh? At least he didn't end up like Gigi, dead on the toilet.

I liked Carmella's reaction, seeing the sourpusses on Vito and Paulie when they have to give up the money. Vito is starting to get on my nerves now, although it was funny seeing him with his crush, Phin. By the way, it's not Phineas Fogg, it's Phileas Fogg.

Great ending to the dream, I was actually shouting at the TV "Don't give him the briefcase!" It would've been kind of cool to see who was waiting for him inside.

what a great episode! This is shaping up to be the best season yet! Paulie was great tonight and I agree that Edie Falco's acting the last 2 episodes was amazing!

Saw meets Godfather II as bad as an idea that sounds it would probably be a big box office hit!

I'll have more to say later, but suffice it to say:

A) I think that a certain scene - of which I can't be any more specific or certain fringe elements of the Sopranos talkbacks might start to feel all self-conscious and "oogey" - pretty much puts to rest whether Gandolfini is wearing a "fat suit." As if.

B) Who is the kid that's driving Sylvio around in this episode? Isn't he some semi-grown up version of a child actor? I can't put my finger on it. But he seems awfully familiar.

C) While "El Capitain" sleeps, the soldiers revert to their old ways. "Wings" goes all slapstick Keystone cop mafia. Bacala whines. "Christofa" reverts to stars-in-his-eyes dreams of going Hollywood. And Sylvio caves. Whattabunchagiamopes.

D) While I thought there was a bit too much broad comedy this episode, the scenes between Dr. Melfi and Carmela were truly exceptional. That "complicity" line just stung. I'd have liked to see that particular therapy relationship develop in parallel to Tony's.

E) Contrary to what others have said, I really think Robert Iler is coming into his own as an actor on the series. "AJ" has never been more interesting. Here's hoping his role gets even meatier as the season progresses.

That's Benny, he's been on the show for years. He used to be on Doogie Howser as the creepy kid who slipped in Doogie's window.

So I JUST started watching this season (I was at my sister and brother and laws and they were watching the premiere, needless to say I got hooked, even though I know very little) but my main question is what the heck was that between Meadow's fiance and that guy that walks like a duck? It did crack me up how he was saying how he's lost weight and has longevity now. How big was he before, cuz just from seeing the cast in the past, I don't remember a 2,000 pound man on there.

Gotta say though, these past three episodes have been great, although I have nothing to compare them too, but still, they are exceptionally acted and very interesting.

Meadow's fiance caught Vito giving a construction worker an early morning blowjob last season. He's the only witness to Vito's homosexuality.
