I'd say this is my favorite episode of the first three.

Going to be a nerd here, but it's actually set in 1869.

This is definitely an episode worth watching. The series really starts to pick up from this point on.

One of my favorites as well.
Love the subtle touches like when
Spoiler:
Rose steps out of the Tardis (in the past) for the first time and the very last scene when the Tardis takes off and the snow hits it as it dematerializes.

Fantastic!

Zombies scare the Dickens out of me!
Bad. Just Bad.

I was an avid Dr. Who fan as a kid.

I caught the first two episodes of the new series last night. They were OK. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I'll definately stick around just out of loyalty to the original series.

I realize that this season has already been aired somewhwere (Britain?), correct? How many episodes are there? Is there going to be a second season?

The season you're watching has 13 episodes, and yes, it was first shown about a year ago in the UK & elsewhere... Then there was a special Christmas episode. Season two is filming now (or maybe in the can now) for another 13 eps. Looks like that'll be the pattern for now with no end in sight.

Thanks for creating this thread.... I was afraid people would forget after the first week.... this episode is definitely one of my favorites for the new series, I'd rate it just behind the season finale and The Empty Child. Perfect atmosphere, and watching Rose's reaction to arriving in Wales in the 1860s was just buckets of fun.

I thought it was okay, probably the best of the first three. The show's not really connecting with me, maybe it's the stoyrlines, dialogue, and pace I have problems with. But the show still has a cheesy but somewhat classic feel to it and I like the characters enough to keep watching.

What do you think it is lacking?
it wasn't until "Dalek" that it really connected with me and I am a fan of the old show.

I don't think it's lacking anything, more like the storylines I don't think I can connect to and there are many times when the pace seems rushed.

As a Who-nut and a zombie-nut, it didnt do anything for me when I watched it last year.

Its an okay series. I wasnt a fan of the Brit-drama aspects. I thought the show seemed to veer into cheesy, melodrama a bit too much for my taste. Who needs to be eccentric, fantastic, and suspenseful, not weepy.

That said, I look forward to the next series.

Yeah, I am seeing from many of the opinions here that it isnt exactly what American's are used to I had a feeling that it wouldnt be to most people's liking.

It was okay. I was disappointed about the lack of brain-eating.

Im still trying to decide if Rose is hot or not.

And I really like the show, but I did not like this episode at all. Plus, why was Dickens in it? He served no point.

And everyone seems so impressed with Rose's reaction to stepping out of the Tardis...did I miss something?

She is a small town girl who has just traveled back to the 1800's for the first time. I don't think she quite believes that she is in the past at first.

Dude, she was just 1,000,000 into the future and saw the destruction of Earth!!!

1800 SUCKS compared to that.

BTW, isnt she from London?

Two things I like about this episode are the references to the overall sotry arcs. One was easy to spot, the other not so much.

I'm going to keep watching but I'm not for sure I like it yet. I'd rate this episode the lowest of the first three.

Anybody trying to decide on whether to continue watching the show shouldn't base their decision on this or the next two episodes. Wait until episode six. That's the one that hooked me and (I think) a lot of others.
