Interesting. Remember that show Lucky on FX starring John Corbett? Rob Cullen was executive producer of that show and he's the creator of this one. Also, Billy Gardell as well as Symour Cassell were on that show as well as this one.
I like Billy Gardell, so having him as the wise cracking detective adds some enjoyment to this show. Other than that, it was pretty plain.

My bad. I had 2 IMDB pages open. I meant Seymour Cassel. Not sure how I could get those two confused.

I don't think there was one original idea in this entire show. It was just a series of heist movie cliches. The "I brought you hear cause you're the best" line, down to the racist Irish cop...named O'Brien nonetheless
...No, I got it, how about switching cars underneath a bridge...Brilliant!
speaking of which, how did they know that the female detective would realize the the bad guys were in a pursuing cop car , tell all pursuing cars to stop and allow for only air pursuit of the escaping cab. Had that not been the case, they couldn't have pulled the switch under the bridge because they'd have had 2 dozen police cars under the bridge with them?
I think I could plan the heist of the century in that town considering the moron police.

As far as standard Network fare is concerned, I thought it was alright and enjoyable, in a disposable sort of way. True, it wasn't terribly original, and it was certainly nowhere near the quality of something like The Shield (or even Law&Order), but it was a billion times better than the assfest that is The Unit. It had some clunky lines and delivery, but it doesn't take itself too seriously, and it seems to be attempting a fun little ongoing story that builds on itself. I'll watch it again.

Not terribly original but light-hearted and funny. I think that was the first time I've heard the word hegemony used (correctly) in prime-time so that was fun for me.

I enjoyed it. I'll be back.
Looked incredible in HD! Except for a couple of minutes, (around the time when 'pizza boy bomb' was walking out of the bank), when it changed to a different aspect ratio. It had a large black border all around. After the next commercial break, it was back to normal.
Anyone else in the LA area see this? I get my locals from Dish Network. Maybe it was specific to that.

What about the fact that in the first bank robbery when the cops show up the people behind the robbery blow up the hostage. So knowing this what do they do when they booby trap another hostage and try to rob a bank again? They show up in full force...screw the hostage!

I thought it was fun. Loved the banter between the characters. The fat white cop was great. Good escapist television - feels like a Friday show however; NBC should pair it with Las Vegas.

I "watched" this while doing other things, and it seems that I liked it better than most because I didn't pay too much attention to it. It looks like a good type of show for that treatment.

Something I didn't understand was the bit in the supermarket where the detective woman is apparently shoplifting razors. WTF? Then after Dougray Scott's character calls her on it, they talk for a moment and then she hands him her basket and walks off. That scene makes no sense to me.

Like the story, hate the characters. The fat detective may be the worst character on TV. I assume he is supposed to be funny, but he's not. I also hate them portraying the entire RHD squad as a bunch of buffoons. They are trying to be too witty with the dialogue and it just doesn't work.

Do you know who they should replace the cast w/? The cast of Las Vegas. Or the cast of Rescue Me. I can't decide.

"Heist" manhole question...
Last night's episode about pizza guy forced to rob the bank...
What's the purpose of the titanium manhole, besides it's lighter in weight? For escape? But the old guy and the pizza dude are still in the car...

They probably going to explain the razor stealing thing later... however, yes, i agree, this supermarket scene is crap, i don't understand the point of it. Only that the guy is following the detective lady since the dancing lesson.

Question (i also posted it as a new thread, but this thread is more popular):
What's the purpose of the titanium manhole? It doesn't seem like it's used as an escape plan. The old guy and the pizza dude are stilling in the Taxi, only one guy went down the manhole and i don't see why he has to do that...
