Kavanaugh seems to taking a scorched earth approach. If he cant bring them down with his investigation he's going to do as much damage to the strike team as possible.

I think Vic would have been much better off if he didnt try to go after Kavanaugh and make it personal.

How good is this show? It's just so juicy and fascinating to watch.

Vic going after Kavanaugh's ex was so wrong on so many levels, so of course Kavanaugh has to return the favor.

Antwon burning Vic burning Kavanaugh burning Antwon... in a vicious circle.

Julian's unconventional interrogation method brings forth the truth of the glory hole snapper bandit.

Claudette somehow hits the Farm jackpot just weeks after passing out on the stairs.

Lem on the lam.

I can understand a show wanting to end while still respectable, but I've never heard of a show going off when it was at its peak as The Shield is right now. I think (hope) there will be too much pressure to continue for them to quit.

Don't forget Live's Overcome at the end of Season 2, which to me was truly perfect.

True. I guess we should just say that pretty much all the music on The Shield is used perfectly :-)

Now that I've had a night to sleep on it - and got a Red Bull to get the brain kickstarted - I think I can walk through the episode again and comment on how great last night episode was. You never expect so much to change the episode before the season finale.

Vic and Kavanaugh's wife was a mutual kick-in-the-balls. Both parties did it with full intention to piss off Kavanaugh, and nothing else. Both parties played it great to accomplish just that. Vic with the "Your wife's pussy tastes like butter" and her saying, "He made me cum... twice." was perfect to get under his skin and tear him apart internally. I knew Kavanaugh would go after Corrine. I'm pretty sure he will fail in his attempts - she really hates him from invading her privacy, lying, and freezing her funds. She'll slap the him before she drops her pants.

Claudette becoming captin was the next step for her. She showed she could overcome everything and still stick to her guns, which shows just how strong of a person she is. I don't know why Dutchboy was so surprised when she thought he went behind her back. He is just that type of person. Now, for him to hold a grudge, is rediculous and its really going to hurt them both in the end.

And what's the deal with the Rookie? How the hell does Dutchboy have that kind of pull?

Nice tactics by Julien to get a confession. I wonder if this is the start for him moving towards detective. Maybe even getting him put with Dutchboy and send Tina back down to doing street training with another officer.

I loved how Cavanaugh totally figured out Vic's plan for Lem, and then completely destroyed it. When the team left that guy for dead, I thought for sure it would come back and bite them (he survived somehow). But to have Kavanaugh figure it out (no matter how far fetched it seemed to everyone else) really shows that he can now read Vic and crew like a book and predict their moves. That is very important to him making a bust - though I doubt Vic will let him now that he knows Kavanaugh is getting smart.

Respect to Lem for not rolling on Vic and crew. You could really see the emotion Shane's eyes when he said he was taking a deal. I know its still up in the air, but could Lem be the father of the baby? Seemed to hint that with Vic's reaction to Danny saying goodbye, considering how little they talked to each other.

Wow. What a great episode. I know it may seem like a bad idea to kill the show early, but I'm sure it is being done with the best intentions. Its better to be thought of being a part of one of the greatest shows ever, rather than just a great show.

I'm betting she shoots him down... this is the guy responsible for freezing all her money and making her life hell.
Depends on how he sets it up.

If Kavanaugh tries to seduce her, promising that he'll unfreeze her assets. I could see her going along with that, seeing as she can't even buy food at the moment, and she's taking care of three kids.

Thing is, even if she says no, I'm guessing that Vic is going to find out about it one way or another, which would probably goad him into physically assaulting Kavanaugh, which may be exactly what he's hoping for. Hell, at this point, he may be even willing to get Vic to try and kill him to put him away.. he really is running out of options.

The whole episode was full of great moments, too. Claudette's rampage in Kavanaugh's office was awesome. Loved how Billings would give this weak little agreement after every sentence, then fell completely silent when she started railing on him.

Now that the baby is coming, maybe we'll find out the father's identity.

I can't see Lem having the stones to be a fugitive for the rest of his life. He'll be eating his gun soon.

This was the best episode in 3 years. So much going on and they even managed to add Julian back without it seeming forced. After a long drought, Mackey was scoring like he had a sackful of bananas in a monkey whorehouse. Kavanaugh does seem like he'll go off the deep end and perhaps attack Corrine. Corrine has won my stupidest character of recent memory award. "Uhhh, I got $65,000 from him." "Oh, your kid has autism too?" "Sure, come one in. I'd put on some clothes, but see I'm too poor to afford electricity now that you've freezed my assets. Get you some water?"

While I'd love for the show to go out on top, this season and the immenent fauilure of "The Unit" should encourage Ryan to write one more or perhaps start a new series. I did notice that SpikeTV is starting reruns with season 1, three hours a night. Funny how that's TV For Guys and my wife likes this show more than I do.

Must be nice to be married to the show's creater.

On another note, can someone tell me why Antoine decided not to roll on Shane? If he simply said to VC that Shane was dirty and then gave him the reason why, VC would have dirt on Shane, another potential wedge to drive the strike team apart.

WOW!! What a great episode. That was great "your wife's pussy taste like butter"

When Vic was taken Lem to Mexico were those tears in Shane's eyes?

Uh, he already did. Kavanaugh mentioned last week that he knew all about what Shane was up to (it was during the scene at the apartment where Terry was killed). However, he doesn't have anything to back it up other than what Antwon has told him.

"Relax, teeth."

Another pretty solid episode. I hope Corinne takes his deposit, scratches him and has him charged with rape.

Everything about Vic and Kavanaugh's ex were GREAT! The smile, 'made me come twice', 'sweet butter'.

I'm not sure about Lem on the run. The bleeding ulcer could cause issues if untreated, like death.

I get the feeling Assinvader is playing both sides of the Kavanaugh/Vic fence.

So, basically they gave Lupus the captain position which is basically a desk job, which is what she didn't want.

Oh, and did anyone mention Julien taking Danni to the hospital at the end. Could he be the father?

Why did the show drop the Aceveda got Antoine to kill Juan angle when they were playing it up in the previews? I thought for sure that Antoine was going to use that angle to get back at Aceveda.

I think the strong ratings of The Unit have all but sealed the fate of The Shield. I'm happy to see it go out on top, even though I think it could give us two more years and still go out on top.

There might be a sixth season.

Great one last night for sure...

I've gotta admit that I'm still "rooting" for Kavanaugh to pull this out --- though I'm sure that won't happen. I'm pretty sure I'm the lone wolf here that thinks that Vic's gotta pay for his sins (if you will). Don't get me wrong, I love the character but he's done a lot of crap...

Someone mentioned earlier that they think Lem might off himself; I'm totally thinking the same thing...

I think CCH Pounder (Claudette) is seriously underrated on the show. To me, she grabs the screen everytime she's on it --- sometimes she doesn't even have to say anything, it could be just a look that she gives. It's gonna be interesting to see what happens now that she's in charge. Somehow she'll probably end up (unwittingly) getting Vic and the boys off the hook.

If I were a betting man (which I'm not) I'd say Kavanaugh won't get to do Corrine. She'll rebuke him just as it appears as though she's giving in..

To say next week is going to be incredible is an understatement!!

Think about it from Antwon's point of view... He's got absolutely nothing to gain at this point by giving up what he had done for Acaveda. All we saw was that Kavanaugh was asking about the Strike Team, and that's likely all the info Antwon gave him. He's not going to let information like that go for free. Of course, now that he may be living a harder life in prison, he could possibly call on Acaveda for a favor or two.

On the other hand, remember what Acaveda told Antwon about the arrangement. During their conversation, he made it seem like he was just there as a broker for the DEA, and that Juan's death was at the request of the DEA, not a personal favor thrown in by Acaveda. While Antwon's deal with the DEA is long dead, it's back to him having nothing to gain from telling anybody about Juan's death, at least from his POV.

The reason that Juan's death was brought up in the "previously on"s was because Kavanaugh put together a connection between Vic, Acaveda, and Antwon just by looking at visiting records and such.

Oh, and did anyone mention Julien taking Danni to the hospital at the end. Could he be the father?
They're also close friends (he was taking care of her after her gunshot wound last season), so it could just be that.

I was thinking about that... and even though he would do it without violence, I still believe that would quallify as rape, which is a possibility that uteotw suggested. It's still forcing her to have sex against her will.

I'm thinking that Corrine tells him no, but he tells Vic that she said yes. He seems to know Vic inside and out, which means he knows what buttons to push to get a reaction.

I'm surprised that no one has touched on Julian's rather angry reaction dealing with the representative of the gay organization.

I wonder if we might see a resurgence of gay Julian, or if he's on the road to where he could be as bad towards gays as the guy setting the glory hole traps.
