Can we add a poll to these threads to the effect of Not as good as... to avoid every other post saying the same thing?

Amazing how much occurs between seasons for an HBO series as opposed to regular network.

al_bundy 03-12-06 08:50 PM

Tony's mother finally got him

DGibFen 03-12-06 08:53 PM

Didn't see that coming.... I though Junior was going to
Spoiler:
die
.

FantasticVSDoom 03-12-06 08:55 PM

 Nice ep...Now off to Big Love.

Dr. DVD 03-12-06 08:55 PM

Uh....how come we no get a preview for next week's ep.? Surely we need one now more than ever after that ending.

One problem with having two year gaps between seasons is that you can forget some of the minor characters. I don't remember Geno that well, but I guess that's not important now.

EDIT: what was that Uncle Junior said before he fired? I am sure it was something significant in Italian.

nickdawgy 03-12-06 08:57 PM

So is that it? He can't be, you know....

Surely not, unless HBO thought it was worth spending however much he makes for a full season to pull a swerve.

Rypro 525 03-12-06 09:00 PM

i thought he didn't say anything. didn't they say he's got alsthimers, so maybe he thought it was someone else.
Vito sure has lost alot of wieght. Wasn't Geno the one who was "reciveing" in the van?

He said Pussy Milanga(sp?) Which is the name of the man that Uncle Junior wanted to murder in Artie's restaraunt in the very first episode of season 1. Whom he did end up killing or was killed somehow and has been dead according to Tony for 6 years, further proving Uncle Junior's going crazy.

No that was just a random guard that worked on the construction site.

MasterCXtreme 03-12-06 09:02 PM

I loved this money shot of Meadow.... Damn.

I enjoyed the episode... great ending. Helluva way to start off a season.

[speculation]I had a thought in the episode that this season would start off with Tony's death, then the rest of the season shows everything that happened up till that point.[/speculation]

I doubt that's the case.

Sounds too much like the Nate Six Feet Under theories.

jkenn24 03-12-06 09:11 PM

I read that there was supposed to be a totally shocking moment in the last 5 minutes of the episode and those never usually end up being a shock, but this one was totally out of the blue! I was kinda dissapointed that there was no "On the Next Sopranos" promo.

great season premiere!

Dr. DVD 03-12-06 09:11 PM

It would be interesting if this whole season is one big flashback, though a bit of letdown IMO.
What was that bit of music they played over the opening montage and the end credits? I think it was something with William S. Burroughs voice recorded over it.

I agree. I believe that is why they didnt show any previews. I think they'll probably backtrack from the last 2 years starting next week.

And with a number of events that occured in the episode, it would leave more questions than answers, I think. I don't think I'm right - it wouldn't fit the series very well to suddenly take this kind of swerve right at the end.

Phil L. 03-12-06 09:14 PM

Whoa. Didn't see that coming.

Anyway it's standard procedure to send a police patrol over to investigate an abandoned 911 call.

Dr. DVD 03-12-06 09:15 PM

Well, there was a lot of stuff that seemed underdeveloped for this ep., so I guess that (backtracking) is a thought. However, such a scenario means that we will go through this season already knowing who will survive and make it all anti-climactic. Unless of course they decide to have the last two eps. resume where tonight left off or something.

nazz 03-12-06 09:17 PM

I really hope that they don't back up after this episode. I'd rather see what happens within the family while he clings to life. The manuvering and power struggles would be interesting.

paradicelost 03-12-06 09:20 PM

Good episode, but it seems to me that Sopranos has always been a show that you need to watch 3-4 episodes at a time for some reason. Maybe its because i watched the first three seasons that way and thats what i'm used too. It just seems that one episode at a time isn't enough. I don't know if it involves the storytelling or what.I know a few seasons of Buffy and Angel were the same way. I still love the show, and will be counting the minutes until next week.

Rypro 525 03-12-06 09:22 PM

Someone on htf heard that the next episode deals with...
Spoiler:
Tony is in a coma and dreams that he is living the middle class life.

also, imdb has a cast list up, and it looks like Ralph, Big Pussy, Richie, and Tony B will make appeirences.

Agreed. Plus Christopher as the "not scared" temp-boss would be great for some drama!!
