Wow, that is awesome.
I just put together this PIP comparison. It's not exactly perfect, and I had to use two different openings to get something that matched the "real life" classic version, but it gives you a good idea of just how much the two are really alike in my opinion:

Great job, Brent. Looks like they missed the shopping cart shot otherwise it would've matched the whole way through.

"Makers of the hit cartoon The Simpsons have a filmed the show's opening titles using real actors. In the hit viral going around the world we get to see what Bart, Homer, Marg, Lisa and Maggie would look like if they were humans. Simpson's maker Matt Groening has approved the human version of the show's opening credits to promote the brand new series."

I liked it. It wasn't a 100% but close enough.

Notice the band teacher, Milhouse and the twins in the band scene? How about all the towns people when Bart is skating through? I saw Mrs. Lovejoy, Moe, Barney, Apu, "Bleeding Gums" Murphy, and a skinny Chief Wiggums. And at the nuke plant, Smithers and Mr. Burnsa are standing behind Homer in the background.

I loved that!
That was the coolest thing I've seen since that thread about the real "Simpsons house" thing.

Isn't Ricky Gervais <sp> writing an episode for this season? My guess would be this opening is for that episode.
