Oscar Haul:

Crash 3
Brokeback Mountain 3
Memoirs of a Geisha 3
King Kong 3
Capote 1
Syriana 1
Walk the Line 1
The Constant Gardener 1
Hustle & Flow 1
Chronicles of Narnia 1
Wallace * Gromit 1

The Oscar love was spread out to quite a few films.

Crash's win proves that you can carpet-bomb the academy with DVDs and win the Best Picture race.

Why would I be shocked? To Wal-Martica, Crash may seem edgy and/or important, but it is still a fairly simplistic film in its agenda. The film really doesn't do anything new. Oh wait, an African-American that enjoys hockey (insert brick wall comedian cracking wise about the lack of black folk in hockey). I hereby nominate someone to pen a screenplay based around some of the reactions to the best song winner as posted on this board. It's no longer enough to say "you don't like me based on my skin color". There is a tremendous rift in CULTURE that needs to be examined intelligently, best exemplified by Mr. Stewart's crack about the whatever mafia's acceptance speech: "That's the way to accept an Oscar" or whatever he said.

I absolutely loved Crash, and I'm so happy it won.

I dont watch the oscars, but talk of the rap acceptance speech intrigues me...what did they do?

ItsGreekToMe 03-05-06 11:05 PM

Dude, don't you have HD? My eyes! My eyes!

Patman 03-05-06 11:05 PM

They cursed and celebrated, just like how it should be done!

Enjoyable show and entertaining read-through here, but my post of the night goes to:

Thank you.

I will now BOYCOTT these inferior DVDs for the next 60 days. Enjoy, you greed simpletons!

Tommy Ceez 03-05-06 11:05 PM

BTW, I LOVE the post Oscar period for ONE reason...all the movie nerds on DVDTAlk rise up, and make some of the douch-iest comments on this board...one of them being on this page

Nothing. They were just really happy.

Giles 03-05-06 11:11 PM

you're sig and time posting says it all...

Croissant! 03-05-06 11:13 PM

You're right, I did make a douche-like comment. I, perhaps, am just full of vinegar tonight.

Michael Ballack 03-05-06 11:19 PM

Brokeback should have won over Crash. Crash was the safe pick though. Once again, Hollywood showed it has no balls.

Hey Digitalfreaknyc, we get it already, you're glad Brokeback didn't win. -ohbfrank-

In a horrible year for Best Picture nominees, the least deserving of the four wins.

What a shame...

Yep, the Oscars have officially jumped the shark. Screw it! They just jumped the whole Pacific Ocean!

A couple of observations--

You could play 50 hip hop 'songs' in the place of that one and not know the difference.

Anyone want to bet that a month from now these guys will be in the 'where are they now file', replaced by the next hip hop 'star' (that will sound just like these guys).

That guy with the diamonds in his mouth! rotfl $100,000 worth! rotfl rotfl rotfl

Wow, there are a lot of big stars who want to look cool with their vote.

Dolly Parton's quote on E!

"I didn't win, but I ain't no loser!"

Michael Ballack 03-05-06 11:25 PM

How can you not like Dolly? I'd still bang her.

PopPit 03-05-06 11:27 PM

Hey, at least a picture that glorifies homosexuals didn't win Best Picture.
