Free Ride - "Pilot" - 3.01.2006

What did everyone think? I swore I wasn't going to watch this after seeing all the promos for it....thought "The Loop" looked far more interesting. But, since it was in hi-def and following Idol, I gave it a shot. Some funny moments, not sure how long I will put up with the DOVE guy. Kind of annoying.

The love-interest is adorable....

The awkwardness with the parents is quite fun.

"Tonight is sex night with your mother. Whatever you're watching, be sure to turn it up."

I watched it and did not find it that funny. I laughed a couple of times though and will probably watch a couple of more eps, as there really is nothing else on Sunday night that I watch. The best part is the interaction with the parents. I agree the girl is cute.
I also think that Life On a Stick was funnier.

The first in what is beginning to look like a trend of Arrested Development-light retreads (relatively stable young man must deal with the wildly eccentric characters around him) that make me long for the original all the more. I think I laughed twice. And Josh Dean's twisty, spastic line readings were just this side of Tourette's Syndrome and got old real fast.

I watched about half of it. That was enough to know I don't need to again.

It wasn't that funny, but that doesn't matter because it didn't try too hard to be funny. I hate how every sitcom tries to shove a bunch of jokes at you regardless of whether they're funny or not. This felt more like a dramedy and I enjoyed the story and characters except for Dove.

Hmmm... didn't know Angel girl was in this. I guess I'll have to check out an episode.

Edit: I guess IMDB has it wrong and she's not in this. Ah well, forget it then.

It was OK, but the editing on this show was BRUTAL. Many of the scenes felt cobbled together...like they didn't shoot enough coverage so worked with the shitty shots they had, and didn't care if the cuts were jumpy... I think the "director" needs to brush up a bit on how to shoot a TV show...hopefully that'll improve...I'm willing to give it another chance to win me over, mostly because that girl is so damn cute.

This wasn't all that great, but then again, it was much better than I thought it was going to be judgding by the previews. I will probably watch another ep or two and make a decision from there.

I've tried to watch this a couple of times, and I've yet to finish an episode...

Is anyone liking this, or is it really pretty bad?

Of course, if no one here at DVD Talk likes it, that means it is destined for 13 seasons!!

The really good shows get yanked after 2 episodes on FOX...

That's unfortunate no one likes it. I was hoping this would be a good show. Since I missed the episode, and no one here thinks it's worth anything, I probably won't try to see any future eps.

The wife and I watched the pilot, and the best thing we could say about it was that it was almost funny. Neither of us had any interest in continuing with it.

I didn't like tonight's episode. The star of the show doesn't really seem like he's capable of being the star of any show.

Overwhelmed is how I'd describe the son. What a f-up, no wonder he ended up moving back to home after college.

Eh, I'll give it a few more episodes, unless something better starts conflicting with it on my second Tivo. I've only seen up to the restaurant episode, but I liked the second episode much better than the first, and did laugh a couple of times.

This makes Life on a Stick look like an Emmy winner.

The only way I could keep on watching this is if Dove gets killed. Easily one of worst television characters this season (right next to the winners over at Sons and Daughters).
