I think he's referring to maybe Taylor Hicks is really 40 years old instead of 29. That would be a huge scandal if he forged documents, but he's already at that point where he's gotten enough exposure. Already a star with/without AI.

America got two right and two wrong. Stevie and Bobby were a given. Patrick and Becky deserved at least another week or so. How come guys can survive on looks alone and girls can't?
Somehow I knew (and posted) that Brenna would still be around. I have been amazed before at who hangs around in the competition but this girl has no redeeming qualities at all. What types of people make up her fan base? Lot's of angry sista's with 'tude out there, I guess...

Why the hell do you think guys survive on looks and girls don't? Is it that hard to figure out? Maybe because women are doing a good amount of the voting, and because women are often really petty and jealous when it comes to really pretty chicks, they get catty. Even if Becky was real talented, she would have been a goner sooner rather than later. Teenybopper girls are always gonna vote for good looking dudes, regardless of their talent.

I remember him playing the harmonica pretty well back then and was quite popular just cause he played football, but wasn't your typical jockhead. I don't recall him singing then though.
I don't live in Birmingham anymore so I was surprised to see him have his own self titled band. I'm going to try to get my sister to scan a yearbook picture of him since they are all at my parent's place in B'ham.
Personally, I think he's got a good voice, but not enough to win AI, seeing how the contestants are mostly voted by teenage girls.

Bobby was no surprise. I kind of expected Patrick also because of what someone already mentioned - no previous exposure, AND he went first in a two hour long show.
Stevie - also not surprising, though I'm still disappointed. She seemed like a genuinely nice person and the talent was definitely there. I think her main problem is confidence. She just always seemed like she wasn't confident in herself and I think her singing suffered for it.
Becky - the biggest surprise of the night. Honestly, that came out of nowhere. I would've thought she would coast just for her looks. And her performance, I don't think was the worst one of the night. Definitely better than Heather's. I kind of wonder if she also lost out on some votes because people just assumed someone else would vote for her and so didn't bother.
Lisa and Katharine also won some big 'class' points from me tonight. When they found out that they weren't going to be eliminated, they were the only ones in the back row who weren't wildly cheering. They actually both seemed to genuinely feel bad for the front row.

Becky SHOULD have been obvious. As SP said, women vote far more than men in this show. My wife and several female friends who watch said that a woman would NEVER vote for her becuase of her looks and the Maxim thing didn't help. I wouldn't be surprised if she had the lowest votes BY FAR.

I never thought Becky was that good of a singer anyway. Just average. Still, I would rather have seen Brenna go first.
No surprises for the others; Bobby was just terrible, plus he's fat and weird looking and kind of odd. Patrick was okay, but he's bland. Stevie took a strange path for her song and it didn't pay off.

Didn't the maxim thing become public knowledge after the voting from the women's performances?

Bobby and Becky I could understand.
OK, I can understand Stevie too, her song choice was, well, odd. I was really hoping that she would survive, I wanted to see what she’d do with a more upbeat song. Oh well.
Now seeing Patrick go, that was a surprise, I was fully expecting David Radford to get the boot for his bad Elvis impersonation. But despite his song choice, I still like Radford and his style, I hopes he goes back to crooning (which is a style of music that I like) and really impresses the audience / judges. Suffice it to say that he’s on borrowed time, but I’m glad he made it through the first round at least.

Eh, I'm not surprised at Patrick leaving. A man singing "Come to my Window" just seemed...oddd. Made me think of the delicate son locked in the Tower in "Monty Python & the Holy Grail."
"But father...I just want to....sing!!!!"

yes the song choice for Patrick was bizarro.
