The Grammy's

Did not see a thread on this.

I fast forwarded through most of the show, but it has become a better watch in recent years. Especially in High def and 5.1 surround.

It's interesting to see Kelly Clarkson win two grammy's opposte the airing of Amercian Idol. Not that the show needed any more vailidation.

And During the Sly & The Family Stone I could have sworn I saw Randy Jackson on Bass as part of the backing group, and Fantasia did a pretty good turn in that medley as well.

The Paul McArtney, U2 and Springsteen numbers were all good, and the opening by Madonna and Gorillaz was also well done, she is still in phenomenal shape.

I made some comment in the music section, and I thought the hour and and a half I watched was deathly dull, and CBS had waaay too many commercials.

Thats why this show is a must record and fast forward, I can't sit through the bad bits and the commercials.

because of the DVR, I was able to squeeze in Lost, The Grammy's and Idol
51/2 hours of material in a tidy 2 1/2 hours.

Well, I just heard the Paul McCartney 'Yesterday' number with (insert generic rap guy here) on Stern's show. I think I have officially lived to long if this is what passes for music today.

NO ONE will ever convince me that taking a great song and yelling over it is ANYTHING but a steaming pile of shit! And if I were in charge, it would be a capital offense.

I agree, the rapping over 'Yesterday' was cringe inducing. The show on the whole made me realize why I don't listen to mainstream commercial music anymore.

I switched between American Idol and Grammy as I had an hour to waste before Lost tonight. I was surprised that alot of the worst performances were coming from Grammys.

Yup. He also played keyboard bass on the first Mariah song, then a five-string on Mariah's second. I thought he did pretty good on the Sly slap parts.

As a musician, I used ta watch the Grammy's and get a lil jealous. Just knew I'd get one by now when i was younger. But man...I felt SO out of touch last night. Much of the music was just...crap. (IMHO)

Nice ta see Green Day add some more to their trophy wall, and dug Paul doing Helter Skelter.

I could have done without seeing Sly Stone in his present condition. Was his mic even turned on? And was he supposed to just leave like that?

I had no idea the Grammy's were going to be on last night until I heard that Steelers qb Ben Roethlisberger was going to be introducing a performer. I was expecting Snoop Dogg. I sorta watched up until he introduced Kelly Clarkson!?? After that, I was very glad to change the channel. And to think, I used to love watching every moment of the grammy's.

Oh, and Bruce Springsteen, Keith Richards called he wants his hair back...

No wait change that, Keith says forget it, Bruce can keep the hair.

I haven't seen so many people singing so out of tune since...an America Idol audition!
John Legend? Linkin Park? That chick in the black dress during the Sly Stone tribute? This is the class of the music business? I'm glad I'm older, because that means I didn't have to listen to this kind of music as a young man.
Sly - love ya man, but there's a fine line between eccentric and crazy old guy.

"Talent" aside, never knew Ciara could look so hot! I say she needs to keep that dark-haired look.
