There is no way that will happen now, especially w/o any outside pressure to do so. Kavanaugh beleives Vic is dirty is turning him into his White Whale. I think the only way is going to get rid of him is to get the brass and media to drail him.

It's a 22-episode season, being split into two parts.

As for tonight's episode, my favorite scenes were the ones where Kavanaugh is listening in on the wiretap and taking notes. Very well staged. (Reminded me of "The Word" on The Colbert Report).

I had thought it was 20 eps (12 and then 8).

yohansen5b 02-08-06 12:51 PM

i know it's been said in this thread more than once, but holy crap was this episode amazing.

Holysmoker 02-08-06 02:35 PM

Loved the ep. It's unreal how good this is getting. The Shield and 24 have been keeping me at the edge of my seat. I wonder if they could do some sort of crossover between the two shows at some point. Maybe Jack Bauer and Vic Mackey dealing with the Russian mob tied to terrorists thing. It's probably not feesible with the filming schedules but I think it would be cool to see that at some point.

Groucho 02-08-06 02:45 PM

The day they do a Shield/24 crossover is the same day I call my provider and tell them to take FX out of my lineup.

Personally, I've always thought that a Shield/Monk crossover would be much more entertaining :)

Jimmy James 02-08-06 08:57 PM

Shield/Angel would have been da bomb.

Red Dog 02-08-06 10:06 PM

I vote for a Shield/Dragnet '67 crossover.

This show is just like Vic: it makes you doubt yourself. I left open the possibility that the trade wasn't staged like I left open the possibility that
Spoiler:
Vic was going to shoot Shane last season.

Shield/The Commish...'cause that would be funny. :)

Even though I knew it was all being set-up for the purposes of putting egg on Kavanaugh's face, it was still a great reveal. The look on his face was priceless.

That's insane. There's more of a chance that Danni impregnated herself ala Mrs. Cartman.

scrubneck 02-09-06 12:34 PM

When is the second half of the season supposed to air? Please don't say 2007.

I think you aren’t remembering all of the hints they’ve given about how crazy Dutch really is. Over the last four seasons Dutch has shown several glimpses of his hidden psychopath. Do you remember when Dutch killed the cat? Or how about his interview with the suspected black serial killer from Texas? I think what was going on in Dutch’s head actually creeped out the serial killer.

Dutch will snap this season. It’s my prediction it will be on the rookie (or at least because of her).

I can’t wait. Believe it or not, Dutch is my favorite character.

I don't know if that's been completely pegged down yet, but it might very well be closer to 2007 than not: http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/sh....cgi?id=shield

Totally agree with the Dutch prediction.. As DeputyDave just said.. There have been plenty of momments where they show Dutch changing into a psycho. Him interviewing the serial killer rapist is the perfect example.

This episode really had me.. I was freaking when they started talking in the clubhouse (me thinking they didn't know it was bugged).. Then at the end I really thought Vic shot that dude and was like "How is he going to get out of that!?"

Awesome freaking episode and BEST SHOW EVER!

It's not like he did that just randomly or anything, he was trying to figure out more about how psychopaths work, due to the fact that the cuddler rapist had shown him that not all of them follow the same profiles that he's already learned. As soon as he had killed the cat, you could tell that he definitely didn't enjoy it, and couldn't relate to what the cuddler told him.

Or how about his interview with the suspected black serial killer from Texas? I think what was going on in Dutch’s head actually creeped out the serial killer.
Been a while since I've seen that episode, but wasn't he just rattling off what the cuddler told him, or something similar? We've seen Dutch (and other detectives) put on a show for a suspect to try and get them to confess, so it's not out of the ordinary for Dutch to act a little crazy to try and buddy up with the other guy.

Honestly, I think that if they do have Dutch end up randomly killing somebody, it'll be pretty unbelievable since they established that he's not like that.

tbird2340 02-09-06 01:44 PM

Actually I coudln't disagree more with you. I watched seasons 1-4 all in a row in a span of about 1-2 months. It's all really fresh with me.. I think he DID enjoy killing the cat and he didn't act like a pycho when interogating the cuddler rapist. He almost seemed to enjoy it when the rapist started letting him inside his mind..

The interview I'm talking about was last season with the suspected serial killer who had moved from Texas. He was the one who lived with his sister. Dutch was trying to get him to talk, started to get inside his head and suddenly stopped. Claudette asked him what was wrong and encouraged him to continue the interview alone. Once alone with the suspect Dutch began to relate to him on a whole new level. Claudette, watching on the TV seemed concerned with what Dutch was saying. A look of knowing (like recognizing a kindred spirit) came into the suspect's eyes. Dutch suddenly stopped, as if realizing he had gone too far, and left the interview.
They never did bust him but they planted a seed of doubt in the sister's mind.

tbird2340 02-09-06 03:01 PM

Argh.. It's driving me nuts trying to picture what the suspect looked like!

He was the black guy. Very friendly looking, always smiling and calm. They pulled him in twice. In one episode it turned out he had nothing to do with the murder but they were sure he was guilty of something. The second time the never solve the case because they had problems with the witnesses. I think the witnesses were a married couple that were fighting about the description.

EDIT: Season 4, episode 10 - "Back in the Hole" The 2nd time they interview him.

Brent L 02-09-06 07:45 PM

I've been saying that Dutch would "turn heel" ever since I first saw the guy, day one, long before the cat scene, or anything else like that. There is just something about him that screams psycho/sleaze to me, and I love it. If he does finally snap, it'll be one of my favorite moments in television history.

I thought for a while that he would be working a case that spans a whole bunch of episodes, and when it was finally said and done we'd all find out that he was the killer, of his own case.

I just realized that the woman playing Vic's lawyer is the hot brunette from Mulholland Drive (yeah, I'm slow).

She's still pretty, but she doesn't look anywhere near as beautiful as she did in that movie.

How about The Shield/Family Matters? ;)

Great episode. Gonna suck to have to wait until January 2007 to finish this season. :(

I was also thinking the father might be that "hustle man" her and Vic worked with to get back that antique furniture. I thought it was pretty funny they way he was hitting her up for date.

I guess Robo does not watch the Shield.

Darn this show just gets darker and darker. Kid runs her head through a car window and then bites the driver.
