Well that was crap.
Lionel gave up his hostile takeover of Lex simply because he threatened to tell his secret to Martha? I wonder how many billions that cost ol' dad? Bat chick has to be the worst actress outside of porn.
I figured out today why I still watch this show. I loved Superman as a kid. In bed after I was suposed to be asleep, reading Superman comics with a flash light under the covers... Seeing Christopher Reeve flying for the first time on the big screen... I think I'm just trying to capture the tiniest bit of the magic again. I'll wade through crap just for the chance of catching a glimpse again.

Yeah, the ending of this episode confirmed my suspicions that it's going to suffer greatly without John Schneider (granted it was FAR from being a show that I really thought highly of even with him).

I'm not so sure I like the fact that a killer vigilante will prove to be as big as or bigger of an influence on Clark than his father was (phone booth, glasses, working at the Daily Planet, actually dressing up to fight crime, etc).

Why did Schneider leave the show? This is Superman not Batman we are watching.
As for the Angel of Vengence I assume they wanted to put Batman in the show and couldn't. I was so hoping that we were done with the freaks from the kryptonite showers but it looks like they will still be around

Schneider didn't leave, he was let go.
How far is Metropolis? I thought it was a few hours, but last night Martha drove back and forth at last twice in one night.
Lionel didn't see Clark use his powers. Lionel was facing the sidewalk when Clark ran to him.

But Lionel already knows about Clark's powers.
I don't agree with them letting him go. What did he want to much money? I would have prefered that they just replace him with another actor.

They let him go simply for the storyline. Nothing else. No bad feelings either way.
This explains it:

Awful, awful episode. The FX were terrible, the storyline was bad, and the acting was pathetic. Even the hot girl couldn't bring this episode up for me.
They don't have a Goodwill or Salvation Army in Smallville? The only one in Metropolis is down a dark alley?

So is the aim here to make Superman more Batman-like? God I hope not.
Was that chick supposed to be some superhero from the DC Universe?
Also, was that the same actress who played the hot girl on Freddie on Wednesday?

I was right. Same chick - Denise Quiñones, a former Miss Universe.

How does Lionel know about Clark powers? They switched bodies but does not remember as far as I can recolect.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that noticed the Elfman theme. So was she supposed to be Smallville's version of Huntress?

Really sad ending. Since there was a lot of leftover time reversal resentment in the last one, this one gave a proper sendoff. The look into the camera "goodbye" was great.
Rest of ep was aight. Would have been better with Bruce Wayne. Interesting bit about Clark wanting to figure out how not to hide himself. How the hell are they going to do the glasses thing? Everyone knows him!

The only idea I could come up with for the glasses is having his eyes get dammaged (albeit temporarily). If you ever watched the Superman animated series with Tim Daly, there was a fight between Superman and Darkseid that was a result of Darkseid having SUperman brainwashed into one of his soldiers. Well, in that ep, when Darkseid was going to use his omega beams, Superman covered Darkseid's eyes. The resulting blast seriously messed Darkseid up. Now, imaging some super powered character (perhaps Zod or another of his underlings) doing to same to Clark in a fight. As a result Clark has diminished vision and requires glasses. Also, perhaps you can make him lose his heat vision and have diminsihed x-ray vision (again, both temporarily). Give enough time for all the characters to become accustomed to a bespectacled Clark. Everything proceeds as normal and, during the course of the show, Clark discovers his eyesight has improved on its own but, since it's the end of the show, he's already begun to fashion his super hero persona and chooses to keep the glasses in order to partially throw suspicion away from him.
Also, for this to work, there'd have to be at least one season where Clark and Lex never see one another so that, by the time Clark has matured into a man, Lex would be unfamiliar with how much he's changed. Blah blah blah. And so forth.

only decent part was Jonathan saying goodbye, but then that just made me pissed off again that they got rid of him
Smallville should have taken a chance and become a version of the continuity with no Lana Lang
