Moral Orel, IMHO, is one of the most intelligent shows on television. By mixing subtle, pointed humor with broad, crazy situations (much the way Monty Python does) it achieves sharp satire that is reminiscent of Vonnegut or even Twain. I know, this sounds absurd for a 15 minute Adult Swim cartoon, but you have to watch it for yourself to fully appreciate what I'm saying. And watch it a few times.
It's funny, the episodes that I enjoy more than raising bodies from the dead or smoking crack (which I also love) are the quieter episodes. To me, the Christmas show was a masterpiece, and this last week's serving had a lower edge to it, but somehow seemed more biting.
I also appreciate that the show is not blasphemous. If anything, it is supporting the idea, through irony, that Christians need to take more responsibility when it comes to explaining life and religion to their children. Of course, it does this for me in a very funny and entertaining way.
