I don't know about Shane having more to lose than Vic, personally. Vic's got three children, two of which rely on his financial support to keep them in the special school. Sure, he's not currently married, but if he ends up going to jail, his family is probably going to be in worse shape than Shane's.

Not to mention Shane got the little girl killed, which led to Lem getting caught with the "H" and wasn't it Shane's fault that the two cops also got killed (because he was in with Antwone who was behind it?)?
