The Maury Show

Since my work schedule has changed, I've been home to watch this a lot. I gotta admit its pretty addicting! But I'm still on the fence as to whether the guests are real and its on the level, or if its all scripted with actors. Or, are the people real, but fed lines to amp it up. What do you think? There is that phone number durin the show to call if you want to be a guest. Maybe I should call just to see what the message is!

Why does he do so many paternity tests????? Its the same show every day.

Maury: Shantiqua, this is you 45th appearance on the show and you've brought 12 more men to test to see if they are the father of your twin sons, Pinesol and Lysol. Why do you think these 12 men could be the father?

And then they bring out the 12 guys and Maury reads from the envelopes. None of the 12 are the father and the girl starts yelling and crying and runs off backstage. Is it even possible to know if you're watching a repeat?

And the clip shows of dumb criminals, sporting accidents, and people catching their spouses cheating. Those are fun.

He usually does at least two "You ARE/ARE NOT the Father" shows per week, which I totally LOVE. Especially when some chick has been on 5 times and tested 8 different dudes. I would imagine some of those people are just looking to get a free trip to NYC, but you can tell the legit ones.

I don't like the out of control teens being sent to boot camp shows. They're only there for two days, what is that going to change? Send 'em there for six months, then you'll see a difference.

I'd say he avergages at least FOUR "baby daddy" shows a week.

Lots of baby mama drama on that show.

Don't forget the shows that have the domineering husbands who treat their wives like slaves: "Maury, I am the man and she must serve me!"

I love Maury, my fiance and I try to guess if the father is really the babies daddies.

We also like when the mother comes in and becomes a big ol biatch..only to find out the father is not the babies daddies.

Samething if the father is a ahole..and find out it is his kid.

its good entertainment.

I always laugh at the men who insist there is "no way" they could be the father, and then are proved otherwise. Dude, the only way there is "no way" is if you never had sex with the woman, but they never claim that.

They act like they have some divine control over their sperm.

There was this one guy I saw who was a light-skinned black man and he insisted this darker skinned woman's baby could not be his, since "everyone" in his family has green eyes and the baby had brown eyes. What an idiot. I guess he never considered that kids get half their DNA from the mother too?

I don't even watch this show regularly but they re-air it late at light and I sometimes catch it when I am getting ready to go to bed. It seems every single episode I have ever seen is always paternity test shows.

I would say that some of Maury's episodes have made even Jerry Springer look classy.

It kind of makes me miss the Jenny Jones Show.

Re: The Maury Show

I'm off this week and watched this show for the first time in a few years. It seems like the show has gotten more trashy.

One thing I noticed they have "sexy decoys" that come backstage with the men and they're caught on tape cheating Do these guys watch Maury before coming on the show? How stupid do they have to be to not realize it's a set-up?!

Re: The Maury Show

i saw the other day a guy who was bragging that he knew that they put a video camera in the green room. so his wife told the producers and they put it in a different room. he then proceeded to be fooled by the "sexy decoy" in the other room. what an idiot.

Re: The Maury Show

My work schedule changed so I can't watch it.

My Faves "topics":

"My Teen Daughter is too Wild"
"Guess the Tranny"
"Who's the Father?"
"She/he needs a Makeover"
"Caught on tape"

Re: The Maury Show

I miss the 90s when we had more of a variety.

Sally
Jenny Jones
Springer
Maury

I know there were more. During the summer that's all I would watch when I was home from school.

Re: The Maury Show

My cousin was on Maury twice. Once for fat people who got skinny, and then again for fat people who got skinny and then got fat again. She said they manufacture the fights.

I'm not proud of this.

Yeah but now we have the Springer spin-off The Steve Wilkos Show which has topics that are so jacked up and disturbing it's not even fun to watch from a morbid curiousity standpoint!

I get a kick out of watching "who's the baby's dady?" or "I'm sleeping with my brother's wife" as much as the next guy. I don't get quite as much enjoyment out of watching Wilkos yelling at a woman who drowned her baby or talking to a man who freely admits to molesting his young children.

Sally was at least half-decent. These other shows are just plain trash. Even Springer's show started out with some human qualities before jumping into the gutter. Remember Tweaky Dave?

Re: The Maury Show

Some of the fights and stuff Maury do seem staged at times. I also miss other talk shows like Sally, Jenny Jones, and Ricki Lake. Springer's show was actually good went it first started. Jenny Jones' show went downhill after the murder/wrongful death case that resulted from a secret crush episode.

Re: The Maury Show

Every now and then he does the "I'm terrified of aluminum foil" episodes. Those baby daddy chicks run backstage so much they had to decorate it in the same scheme as the stage! They even put a couch and plants back there for them.

Neither one is "spank" worthy.
