Why did SG-1 leave all those other scientist and technicians at the gamma site to get killed by those bugs.?

lisadoris 02-18-06 07:20 PM

I hate bugs. Good episode but yuck to the bugs. Atlantis was OK: it's always nice to see Colm Meaney.

They only left to take the people on tour to a safe spot. When they left the situation was thought to be under control with the bugs being trapped in lower level. If the emergency hologram didn't insist on being taken to a safe spot SG-1 would have stayed to die with the rest.

Now I have no idea why they didn't seem to care that a base full of people just died. That kind of bugged me. Yeah I said it.

Ranger 02-18-06 11:47 PM

I took it like "this is the military, our people are expendable, except for our little clique."

mikehunt 02-19-06 05:20 PM

needed some flame throwers

and why does Mitchel have a G36 now? Other than Hollywood liking HKs lately it makes no sense. Can't swap mags with the people with the P90s or M16s, can't even swap ammo with the P90 users, but at least teh G36 uses 5.56 like the M16s.
although at least he went to a gun with a real rifle cartridge, as opposed to the MP7s they carried in that episode with Ba'al beaming up gates

and why'd they happen to have blocks of C4 on that mission?

Ranger 02-19-06 08:09 PM

are flamethrower guns still used by the military today?

mikehunt 02-20-06 07:16 PM

I don't think so
but I don't think MP7s, or G36s are either
and P90s are doubtful too(Secret Service is the only US agency I'm aware of that uses those), definitely not in the kind of numbers the SGC was using. That would have raised some eyebrows somewhere in the days when no-one but very high ups in Washington knew about the gate
but logistics don't seem ot matter on this show

shouldn't have been hard for someone like Carter to jury rig one though

Chew 02-21-06 06:38 AM

SG1 had something interesting going for it: regular cast members from Farscape, Star Trek, and Babylon 5 all in the same episode.

The B5 one is a little weak: she was fired after the pilot. ;)

Next week on Atlantis:
Spoiler:
Connor Trinneer!
:)

Ranger 02-25-06 06:27 PM

SG-1 was ok this week, but I actually really did enjoy this week's SG Atlantis episode. It was interesting to see what resulted from the wraith-human testing.

Well...here in Canada, we get SGA before the US does, so I already saw Micheal episode, and like I said in previously, Micheal was one of the best episodes.

For last night's SG-1 episode, I thought it was good. In fact very good. But I felt like we already saw this episode in SG-1 and in ST TNG. Anyway, can't wait till next episode!

mikehunt 02-25-06 11:19 PM

did Teal'c go off world before or after they determined mitchel and carter had simply phase shifted?
because he seemed awfully non schalant when he could see and hear mitchel when he turned on his cloak

Yeah, I definitely agree - this indeed was one of SG-A's best episodes. In fact, I liked it so much that I'd even consider getting the S2 dvd set just for this episode. :)

I'd like atlantis more if they'd stick more on the wraith and sg-1 if they stick more to the new ori villains.

Not only did it feel like a TNG episode, I was waiting for Ro and the Romulans to show up! ;)

Two weapons related observations/questions:

1) The SG teams used to have a strap around their necks attached to their weapons, allowing for hands-free tasks. They don't seem to use those anymore?

2) Whatever happened to Teal'c's staff weapon? I can't imagine why he would switch to bullets given the poor effect they seem to have on most opponents. If it's a size issue, why not a zat (sp?) gun? Did I forget a scene where he swore them off?

lol.....

Demontooth 02-28-06 09:16 AM

Has anyone else noticed that just about everyone from the X-Files besides Mulder and Scully has showed up at some point in both Stargate shows?

Chew 02-28-06 09:21 AM

Each of these shows is using many of the sci-fi actors over the last few years: B5, many of the Treks, Farscape, X-Files, even Andromeda.

THANK YOU! I've been thinking to myself for a few episodes now.. Where is Teal'c's STAFF?! And he used to have a ZAT on him too... He's growing hair too.. like he wants to be more human.

Demontooth 02-28-06 03:28 PM

I have also noticed that Daniel Jackson now carries a P-90.

WHAT!?

Baron Of Hell 03-04-06 12:14 PM

Ms Black did a pretty good job. That last scene with her claiming she was forced to what she did was great.

Chew 03-06-06 06:09 AM

"Darth Vader"

I love the humor they've thrown in with Teal'c... Was it last week or the week before that he wanted to watch Old School!
