Agreed. What a way to go (if it actually went - still have my fingers crossed).

One of the best EVER... I couldn't believe how many good shots at the network, the public and everyone else who just doesn't GET the show that they managed to cram into half an hour. So excellent.

MATT
and Lindsey and Michael are twins, so I highly doubt that Lindsey is adopted.

Maybe we need to be more sympathetic and relatable...thats what people want to see these days

If you think about it....
Spoiler:
Lindsey could've been adpoted once they had Michael or the hospital might've switched up the babies. I don't know. I have a feeling that the whole subplot involving that Maebe might not be a blood releative (so George Michael can have her way with her) might come into play as the episodes come to an end. It kind of makes sense, especially regarding the information on the character Justine Bateman is playing.

Man, I didn't even think of it like that. It makes perfect sense. Wow, then it could come true.

Anybody else remember from the Season 1 (I think) commentaries that Hurwitz & Co. have been sitting on this joke for awhile... An original idea was to have a blurred person in a couple of shots and in pictures as another Bluth child that didn't give their rights to be shown on tv.

All I have to say about this episode is:

Tommy Ceez 01-03-06 01:52 PM

Let me turn this around a little bit...my parents are religious AD watchers (the only other show they would go out of thier way to watch was 24) and I can guarentee that they got NONE of the inside jokes...and I think thats a problem with this show, when the ratings satrted showing it failing, the writers took a 'too cool for TV' stance and alienated anyone who doesnt read fansites

shawagg 01-03-06 03:06 PM

Was it just me or did the show seem thrown together at the last min. Like tht opening, all in one room with the entire cast just talking about cancelation rumors. It seemed so last min. Like an SNL bit.

Makes you wonder what the "real" show was gonna be before they probably scraped it for this F-U to Fox and the people who never got it.

I think that was the case. When they found out they were being cancelled, they shot the opening bit and re-wrote the story to fit it. The live ending was just for kicks and way to say goodbye, I suppose.

By the way, I never realized the joke of Buster going to a school called MILFord.

Also, I thought the line: "I love my cousin" and the response "I love you too, son." was great stuff.

Isn't that what kinda happened in "The Osbournes?"

DRG 01-03-06 03:18 PM

I'm in the minority here, because I thought this was one of the least funny episodes of the series. I got the references but it all felt more 'clever' than actually funny. I got very few laughs out of it. Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining and smart stuff, but I just wasn't busting a gut laughing like I do most episodes.

Didn't catch that one. Nice!

Deftones 01-03-06 04:07 PM

Great episode. What was the deal with the live thing at the end? That just seemed odd and out of place. I know it was supposed to be like when other shows end, but it didn't seem to serve any purpose.

JuryDuty 01-03-06 04:11 PM

Funny how different episodes affect different people. I thought it was one of the funniest episodes of the series. Many of those clever references still play in my mind. Great stuff.

I do hope at least that Showtime picks it up. Where I live, Showtime is included "free" in the extended basic digital cable package, so I'm good-to-go.

BTW, I think if Fox is going to cancel this series, it makes perfect sense for them to NOT air the final three episodes. First of all, they aren't going to get any numbers anyway, and second of all, having three "unaired" episodes should help the sales of the eventual DVD season set.

Well, that was the point: to not serve any purpose. They were making fun of reality shows that have "live" finales, and how there's no reason to be live other than as a promotional gimmick.

It was supposed to be a parody of a show desperate for attention/ratings: a live episode, somebody on the show will die, famous celebrity guest stars, etc.

 You hit the nail on the head with that one. Great episode, great show, I hope this is on next week!

Tscott 01-03-06 05:51 PM

Being as the only show I watch on FOX is arrested development, I didn't see any ads for this episode. I'm guessing they played up the 3D, gueststar, "someone's gonna die", live ending aspects? Did they do it all in one ad or did they have several different ones to focus on each ratings stunt?

The gueststar and the 3D gags were easy for me to get, but not knowing in advance that "someone's gonna die" or that there will be a live ending took me longer to put together the context of those jokes.

BenboC 01-03-06 06:29 PM

There was an ad directly before the show that somebody was going to die. I'm not sure about the other stuff.

i took the "ad" as being part of the episode. because without that, the narrator's line about giving away who dies wouldn't be funny. in fact, all the gimmicks would just come off as random and bizarre.

Sigh, if new viewers do tune in every episode seems "random and bizarre"

Kind of strange wasn't working when the show was on... I tried it 10 seconds after it was displayed

Atreus 01-03-06 09:39 PM

Just curious if the 3D shots were actually 3D. Did anyone happen too have a pair of 3D glasses kicking around and try it out?

-other- I tried it. I had the I love the 80's 3-D glasses and the red and blue 3-D glasses I got from the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Neither of them worked.
