Doesn't Geofferson know the Kimber woman? I bet she told him!

Here's a full quote from the carver:
"Beauty is a curse on the world. It keeps us from seeing who the real monsters are."
Sounds to me more like someone screwed over by people like Christian than someone who's doing it because they're unattractive (an argument for Liz or Bobolit), or that they just may have an issue with plastic surgery (an argument for Julia, etc.)

Groucho 12-09-05 06:18 PM

There's a good chance that even the cast doesn't know. I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed multiple "unmaskings" and will edit in the correct one at the last minute.

Spoiler:

doing this just in case

At first I thought it could be Marcus Grayson or Cara Fitzgerald..

Marcus because Sean found out he was doing his work while drunk and threatend to have his license pulled if he didnt stop working.
( of course he didnt stop but anyway)

Cara because I could see her going nuts after being hit by a car driven by matt. turned
from a plain girl to a almost cute one then raped by somebody you trusted could make
you a little looney..

but I could be wrong...

Actually, people have been grossly misquoting Ryan Murphy and his comments about the identity of the Carver. He has never said that the Carver has been around since the first season of the show, nor that he/she has been on all three seasons of the show, nor that he/she has appeared in every episode (I've read all of these statements on various sites, not necessarily this one - the second one, though, seems to be the most common falsehood being spread).

What Murphy has said is that Carver will be "someone we know" and can be male or female. It will be a character that we have seen often enough in the past to be familiar with. Also, and this has been pointed out by other posters as well, the actor who wears the Carver costume/mask on the show is not the person who plays the character who will ultimately be revealed as the Carver, nor is he/she the voice of the Carver. So saying that someone "isn't the right body type" to be the Carver isn't really correct (although we'll presumably see the real actor in the costume/mask in the season finale, at least at the very end).

My own thoughts on the Carver's identity:

Spoiler:
I think it's Liz - is a lesbian and would probably be familiar with strap-on dildos, which she used to rape her victims; has access to and intimate knowledge about paralyzing agents, including being able to give enough to incapacitate her victims but not kill them; would have been able and had a motive to give Rhea Reynolds the paralyzing agent before her surgery so that she could feel everything but was paralyzed; knew about Rhea being operated on and would have known she was lying; would have had access to information about her whereabouts so she could later kill her; as an anesthesiologist, does very precise work with her hands, which would allow her to make the cuts on the face that the Carver makes, and cut Christian on his neck in such a way as to not sever a major vein/artery; has a love/hate relationship with Christian and acted quickly to see that Christian was not given credit for her work, but also attacked Kimber shortly afterward; was not shown in the church or at the wedding at all when Kimber was attacked; often expresses vocal disdain/disapproval about plastic surgery procedures, and has a general moral and ethical objection to them, and the most sympathetic we've ever seen her to a patient on the show was not to a person but to an ape; would know exactly what to tell Kimber to write to Christian in the Dear John letter to hurt him the most; already has possession of Christian's semen from when she tried to have a baby, and also could have obtained fresh semen from him when she injected him to test the drug used on Rhea Reynolds, the outcome of which hasn't been revealed; has been practically written out of the show this season, being given not one single subplot or storyline, so as not to create any plot holes when revealed as the Carver...

I also think Bobolit would be a logical choice. Quentin has been very clearly set up to be a red herring for the Carver, though. I doubt it's him. And it's definitely not Sean, Julia or Christian.

Pretty convincing.

Good find, was the link still on the Myspace site?

Groucho 12-09-05 09:41 PM

I got that link from the Wikipedia article.

re: "leaked script pages".

They are nothing more than fan fiction. I have seen about seven of them, with the carver being:

Sean
Quientin
Kit
Gina
Julia
Liz
Matt

As someone stated, I bet they have filmed unmaskings of everyone, and will probably use them in the last episode to really trick the viewers.

But we'll just have to wait until 12/20 to be sure.

Have they said the carver will be revealed in the finale?

Sean Murphy has said that the Carver's idendity would be revealed by season's end. So actually, that could mean even next week.

Ryan Murphy hasn't said it himself to the masses, but most of the gossip crew such as Kristin at eonline.com or Ausiello at tvguide.com indicate that
Spoiler:
the Carver will be revealed in the closing minutes of the last episode of the season
.

Ah yes, Ryan :) Sheild on the brain (just had seen the promo for Sean Ryan's The Shield).

I am quite certain that I read an interview around the begining of the season that he said the Carver will be revealed by season's end. Of course, I could be mistaken, but I've been hanging on that since at the point, I was pretty tired of the Carver teases.

That's what I figured. The two different Ryans mess me up quite a bit, too.

Yeah, you're right about that. I didn't mean to negate that part with what I said -- I was adding what I said to build on what RM has said in public.

Quoth Ryan Murphy to the masses:

The last scene of the final episode this season is when we'll learn who the Carver is.

Oh, so he has said it to the public. Nice. We're all on the same wavelength now.

Let that be a lesson to you JJ :)

Man I really do want the Carver to be revealed, but I would really like for there NOT too be too much blowback in S4 over it. I'd like to get back to patient centered episodes.

DVD Josh 12-11-05 09:43 AM

Not a spoiler at all, but this is what Ryan said:

Spoiler:
This whole season will be about Carver madness. It will be somebody we know. It's always a horrible cheat when it's someone like a neighbor who you met once, and they're the killer. I like how this show has not done the obvious. The Carver can be a him or a her. The last scene of the final episode this season is when we'll learn who the Carver is.

Hell, I spoiled it anyway so no one gets upset.

WhoGirl 12-11-05 09:51 AM

Well, I guess the carver is someone who we "know" and has been around a while....

http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/...2/10670837.jpg
How could we have missed it before? It seems so obvious! Always judging people on who he deems "naughty" or "nice." It was only a matter of time before he moved from stockings of coal to slicing up people's faces. -ohbfrank-

New video up at the Carver's myspace:

Spoiler:
Look closely about halfway into the video, as he's talking about the "Beauty slaves." There's a slightly visible shot of a face that moves over the screen. I tried to get a screencap, but slowing it down and freezing it didn't really clear things up. From the eyebrows it *looks* like it could be Kimber, but that doesn't tell us much.

That is what I think cuts hardest against it being Christian, Sean, Julia, Matt, or even Liz. I think you can argue that Liz wouldn't need follow-up, but that gives a well established and loved character short shrift if you ask me.

SexualPudding 12-11-05 01:49 PM

Do that many people seriously "love" Liz's character? She is ok, but the show could easily lose her and it would be no big deal. She is such a minor recurring character, anyway, IMO. I have enjoyed her character at times in the past, especially how she used to always keep Sean and Christian in check, but I don't know if I can agree that her character has really been all that fleshed out and established. We know she is a lesbian, and has had open disdain for a lot of the work McNamera/Troy have done, but not a whole hell of a lot more than that.

She has been a constant throughout the 3 seasons, but never an integral part of any of the storylines, IMO.

Let's put it this way: Sean and Julia have another kid whose name I don't even recall. The last time I remember her even mattering was when she had that Princess Menses party. She is a far less interegal character to the show, but I don't think they could kill her off in the last scene of the season and not have blowback in the next season. Liz is a more substantial character than the kid is and would have an impact on at least Julia, Sean, and Christian. She can certainly be the carver, but I think it would be crazy to think that would mean we wouldn't see more of the story told in season 4. If it's somebody like Quentin or Bobolit, I think it's a lot less likely that we'd see the story continue into season 4 (depending on what happens with
Spoiler:
Julia's pregnancy or pregnancy scare in Quentin's case
).

ETA: Also, I think it's evident that Liz is far more beloved than Matt is.
