But using a stand-in that's a completely different body type of the actual Carver would be cheat, wouldn't you think? I'm operating on the assumption that the producers wouldn't be that "cheap"...but you never know.

Of course it is a cheat. Thats why it isnt a good thing to guess based on body type.

I think I'll go ahead and stick with Merrill Bobolit. Christian gave Kimber up to him for the car, they ended up getting engaged, and then lost her when he lost his medical practice. What better time to kidnap her than on her wedding day?

ALTHOUGH...looking at the episode guide, I guess the Carver did show up before Bobolit had the whole "back room, gas huffing, cut off my own face" episode so I don't know if he would have been in the right frame of mind to pull off the Carver identity.

I think Julia is the Carver. (I don't think her being at the wedding would preclude this.)

Oooo, I like it. And we've seen that she's a murderer.

cleaver has made a good case for Julia. I can't add her to the poll, but I'd give her 4:1 odds at this point.

Was anybody anal enough to analyze the whole wedding scene, and mark who was visible in what scenes? Was it possible for Julia to slip out, grab Kimber, stash her someplace, and get back into the church before Sean arrived?

Maybe it is Christian's alter ego Doctor Doom.

Nice thread. This has been my pick since the first appearance of the Carver.

I'm trying to look at it from the point of view of the writers/Ryan Murphy, who had to sort of backtrack when The Carver took off and make it someone on the show (initially it wasn't something to last or be revealed). I think this is a much bigger clue than what's actually happening on the show, because they'd have to sort of shift characters around accordigly. Most suspicious to me in this respect is Gina, who went from bed-ridden with AIDS (sort of seems like a way to write a character off to me) to suddenly up and hanging around a lot. BUT she was sick when the Carver began, and she was at the wedding when Kimber was kidnaped. Though, if it's two people, Gina can still fit. In fact, virtually every character mentioned in this post was shown to be somewhere at the times of a Carver attack, or actually attacked by the carver. Except, I think, Bobolit. But I find it hard to believe the Carver would be someone who we haven't seen in so long (new viewers this season won't really know who he is). Ryan Murphy saying it's someone who's been around since season one leaves out a lot of suspects too (like Ava and her husband). Also, the "beauty is a curse" motive is spread pretty thin across most suspects. A lot of people on the show obviously have issues one way or another in regards to beauty but what is so bad that they want to send this message out? Gina has AIDS. I wonder if a good motive for her is something along the lines of beauty= sex= death. So I'm going to say Gina with help (probably Bobolit) although I expect it to really be someone lame that no one cares about and that doesn't even really fit.

The problem with this- and this is assuming there aren't going to be 100 holes in the story- is that the Carver is still disguising themselves when they attack Kimber, so she apparently hasn't seen him/her yet.

I think they could explain their way out of that pretty easily, particularly if they establish that we haven't necessarily heard about every single victim of the Carver. If that is the case, he or she could have just been in costume during that scene because it was carving time again. Similarly, it could be that the freakshow dresses like that whenever he can because he or she gets off on it.

She could have slipped her something when they were talking, she could have used a tranquilizer gun, or she could have put the costume on for a moment to inject her with something and stashed the body.

Someone had posted a link to a site on the Myspace.com webpage. The linked site had an audio clip that was spoken by the Carver. They sped the audio up a little bit (and did some other editing I suppose) and replayed the same clip. The voice was unmistakably
Spoiler:
Quentin.

I suppose it could have been faked but it was very convincing. I just wish I could find the link...

I think there is another big clue in the fact that it was KIMBER that was taken. That means that it's someone close to Christian, to me at least.

As for the timeline comment, I'm not certaint that has any relevance. He could have been the Carver before that point. If you remember, they didn't show the Carver mask until AFTER he cut his face.

Merrill Bobolit could have started slashing these people in hopes that he could be the one to fix them, be a hero, and possibly regain his previous life. BUT then McNamara/Troy took the cases and messed that up for him too. He was pretty wacked out on the gas though, you'd think he would have slipped up and mentioned something about "carving".

I just think it's WAY too obvious to be Quinton. But of course they could be MAKING it so obvious to make us DOUBT that it could be him. Reverse psychology?

BTW, Carver was just online for a few minutes. Tried to PM him several times, but no response. Also the myspace video has changed. Definitely talking about Kimber.
