Oh, and is it wrong to think Angela is hot?

Not to mention that, in the UK show, Tim had the personality and Dawn's boyfriend had the good looks. In the US show, Jim is better looking and has a much better personality. Pam not dumping her boyfriend in this version just seems silly.

I can't say it is unrealistic though. I've known alot of girls that wouldn't leave their jerkoff boyfriends just because they have been with them for a long time.

Stupid affiliate preempted it for some anti-drug propaganda show for kids. What the hell? And then they say it'll run at 2am, which it did not. Damnit. That's one thing I forgot about Baltimore tv stations: They suck. NYC stations wouldn't pull this crap.

I wasn't sure if he was taking back a card he gave her (was it in the tea pot? If so, wouldn't she notice it was missing?) or some other card. Any ideas? Maybe set up for a future episode?

I'm pretty sure he took his own card back. I believe he mentioned that he confessed his feelings for Pam in the card. I guess he wimped out at the last minute.

So many awkward moments in this ep. Michael was more of the asshole he was in the first season for most of the ep, then he bought the 15 bottles of vodka to cheer everyone up.

Michael shits all over Phyllis every other episode (or so it seems). He is so damn cruel to that woman. One day, she may gun him down.

Kelly giving Dwigt a kiss just killed me.

I was waiting for her to get even by the end of the episode, but I suppose it is more realistic that she doesn't. Every office has that person that everyone shits on, and you don't feel bad for them until you are taken out of that situation and given the ability to look at it objectively.

Cusm 12-07-05 09:04 AM

What is with Michael's big-boy crush on Ryan?

Michael shouldn't be afraid of being gunned down by Phyllis. The only thing he should be afraid of is getting a boner.:)

boogieman03 12-07-05 09:27 AM

The last scene.
15 bottles of Vodka for 20 people.
Kevin
Meredith: "This is kinda my last hurrah. My New Years resolution is to stop drinking... during the week."
"Ho! Ho! Ho! Pimp!"
"Why'd you bring in one so big?" "Well A, That's what she said"
"Like booze ever killed anyone."
And the confirmation on where the shirt came from.

rotfl
Great stuff in this episode. Lots of funny moments.

uteotw 12-07-05 09:29 AM

"Christmas is the best time of year to show people you care about them. Giving someone a Christmas present is way to say I love you...this many dollars worth."

Fantastic episode. Great show. Nice of Michael to share his bonus via the iPod & vodka.

Jim did say, when he put the card in, "Christmas is the time of year to let people know how you really feel about them," so clearly he got cold feet. And yes, saving the other hot sauce packets seemed a bit creepy...

Geofferson 12-07-05 09:30 AM

Awesome episode last night. Kevin doesn't do much, but the guy is hilarious.

Good catch.

He put the card in the box, not the teapot, BTW. So I assume she had just pulled the teapot out when Jim walked over and not noticed the card yet.

Was this at the beginning? I missed the first couple of minutes because of OT then a shootout in the hockey game I was watching.

Angela cracks me up:

Angela: Did you get the lights?
Phylis: I got the little ones.
Angela gives evil look
Phylis: Is that okay?
Angela: Well, we'll see.
Then, when they light the tree Angela gives Phylis the evil eye!

Angela crushing the christmas ornaments!

Nesbit 12-07-05 10:07 AM

I'm betting we will find out later in the season that she read the card.

valkyrie 12-07-05 10:12 AM

Did they show a "next time on the Office" clip? My HTPC only recorded the last 17 minutes of this Ep! (power outage). I was going to DL it off iTunes, but it's not listed yet, and NBC's episode guide lists the "Christmas Party" with a 12-20 airdate. Is it being re-played in 2 weeks?

Nesbit 12-07-05 10:15 AM

I didn't see a clip from next week's episode. I think the commercial that announced they are moving to Thursdays took the place of the normal teaser.

Yes. He put all the little things in the teapot, replaced the top, (I think), then put the card inside the box. It was at the beginning.

Was I the only one who thought the announcer saying "the 2 most original shows on tv" and referring to The Office slightly ironic? I mean, The Office (while it has been getting better and better) certainly isn't original.

DRG 12-07-05 11:22 AM

Good news:

NBC moved into the lead at 9 p.m. with "My Name Is Earl," 8.5/12, and "The Office," 6.3/9. A "Commander in Chief" rerun posted a 7.0/10 for ABC, a little better than "The Amazing Race," 6.7/10, on CBS (although CBS had more viewers for the hour). The second hour of the Billboard Awards improved slightly for FOX. The "Top Model" special "Back to the Runway" scored a 2.2/3 for UPN to finish ahead of a "Supernatural" rerun on The WB.

That's a pretty good number for the Office, although admittedly Commander In Chief was a repeat and House wasn't on. I really like that they are promoting this Thusday night move in a decent manner. I wonder if they heard the anti-Fox sentiment in the Arrested Development thread? ;)

If there was an episode next week, they wouldn't have blown their Christmas wad early. I don't think The Office is new again until Thursday the 5th

Typically, when you see a Christmas episode, that's the last new one till after Christmas. Again, why blow the wad early?

No episode next week... Fear Factor is a 90 minute episode and Earl takes up the 9:30E/8:30C slot.

Nesbit 12-07-05 12:26 PM

Tivo To Do List shows no episodes scheduled, so I guess we'll have a bit of a wait...

I'm pretty sure the card was still sealed when Jim put it in his back pocket. Therefore unread by Pam.

Hubcap 12-07-05 12:51 PM

Kevin:
"I want the foot bath"
"Thats the thing I bought myself"
"Im really psyched to use it"
"Maybe I should have taken the Ipod"
"OH SHOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT"

Just great. Also enjoyed when everyone covered the one guy that passed out in the chair.

Could be. I'll post an update on the card situation after I rewatch it tonight.

I just watched the eppy again and the card that professes Jim's feelings toward Pam looks to be still sealed in the envelope. But it's too difficult to tell for sure, I'd say it's inconclusive if anything.

He spent about 1/5 of his bonus trying to buy some love, he isn't really capable of just being nice.

Reminds me of when I was in 9th grade and worked on a history project with the girl I had a crush on through HS. I saved her handwritten notes, and just found them again recently when I was cleaning out my closet.

mdc3000 12-07-05 03:31 PM

nobody has mentioned my favourite line of the night... after Kevin chops off the top of the christmas tree.

Kevin: But what are we gonna do with this hacked off part?

Michael: Well, that is a perfectly good mini tree Kevin. And we are going to SELL that to charity. That's what Christmas is all about.

MATT

Kevin standing there with the top of the Christmas tree like he was holding a severed head.

... not to mention that he hacked it off with a paper cutter.

Kelly works in HR right?

ChrisKnudsen 12-07-05 04:39 PM

Man, I end up bittorrent this but god damn, the episode took about almost an hour to watch for I am a person that pauses something if it gets too awkward. Really did feel more like the British version last night. Damn funny episode, though.

Red Dog 12-07-05 06:04 PM

This was one hilarious episode. The ending was one of the funniest I've seen in any comedy. rotfl
