Is Threshold Any Good?

Although I've never had enough time to see Threshold, I've heard about the huge internet buzz that has been surrounding this show. Some people think this show sucks, while other critics thinks it rocks.

From what I know from online sources, Threshold is a rip off of the X-Files or Dark Skies, plus one of it's writers and producers is none other than the universally despised Trek writer, Brannon Braga. Now is Threshold a decent series, or is it a waste of time?

There's a huge internet buzz?

I only watched the first 3 or so episodes and then dropped it. I liked the cast, but just was not interested in the Crystalline Entity.

In Threshold, the Crystaline Entity destroys YOU with sound!

Eh, I like the pilot, but after a few episodes it got boring in a major way. I dropped it after about the 4th episode.

I just officially gave up on it this past weekend. I needed TiVo space and had 4 Thresholds on there that I really didn't have a desire to watch. The thing is that when I watched the show I liked it but it was a chore getting myself into the mood to watch it.

My wife and I are enjoying it a lot. Great cast and an interesting story.

We're sticking with it!

It's ok, mostly due to the cast that seems to work well on the show.. I even like the theme..

the problem IMO is the story line is already feeling tired as they sort of kind of stop this super complicated over kill James Bond bad guy level of plan for something as simple as playing a sound track on a CD.. I mean some guy next to me can FORCE me to hear his music at a stop light but the aliens can't fig out how to work a boom box or just run into the car stereo area of Best Buy and harrrrrr 80+ people infected.

yeah I know it's just a TV show BS is par for the course but I can almost picture what Threshold would be like if it was a zombie film.. "Mhahrgh bite.. bite... brains!!!" being your normal zombie themed show.. A "Threshold" zombie show would be a machine build by zombies that used birds to work a pair of metal jaws that needed diamonds for teeth so when the birds fly left left then up, people almost get bit being the machine tends to miss a lot..

It's okay - and it's not because of the execution of the story.

My wife and I like it a whole lot more than Invasion (which I am still keeping up with) and I thought it made a good Friday night show. The last episode was really strong, but the two weeks off and new time slot may hurt.

I gave up midway through the 5th episode. I like the cast but not execution and storylines.

Well there is not a huge internet buzz, but plenty of people seem to be talking about it anyhow online, so you could call that internet buzz I guess.

Can anyone give a guess to when Threshold gets cancelled, if it's losing viewers already?

It could have been good because I like the cast but the format they are using, lets get the person trying to spread the single every week, is not working for me(it).
It's a show with a premise that might be good for a 5 or 6 episode arc but multiple seasons.

A great cast. A decent initial premise, and a promising pilot episode. Sadly, very little but suckage in the storylines since then, both standalone and arc.

According to E online...

From bubblegirl: Is Threshold a goner?

Is riding the fence right now. Spread the word to watch it on Tuesday nights! This week's ep is the one with Elizabeth Berkley, she gets infected at a sperm bank because one of the ship's infected crew members has been donating sperm. Her friend who goes to the same fertility clinic is also infected. They're trying to spread the signal. Another woman who's infected isn't as lucky...And someone get shot at the end.

Sounds like Braga writing to me.

I gave up after the second episode so I don't really have an opinion on the show. I'm just popping in to vote for the "Braga sucks!" option.

Kristin on E online is pretty credible.
With the format they have chosen they are going to run out of ways for these aliens to reach people. Further proof is the sperm description.

I'd vote for that one.
