I'm holding back for a few reasons:

1. I suspect it to suck hard.
2. I don't really have time to watch it now.
3. I'm 99% sure they'll stick this as a bonus on some WB DVD set at some point... Smallville or something else. The chances rise to 100% if I spend $1.99 to download it. ;)

Eh, I'm not against the $2, I'm against the quality. Don't really want to watch it on my ipod or my computer.

It would be interesting to see if this took off on itunes and turned around the outcome of the premature cancellation.

I bought it.. Probably will watch this weekend, or maybe at work tomorrow.

Chew 07-28-06 07:02 PM

Having now seen the pilot, I'm happy this did not go to series.

Bad on soooo many levels.

twikoff 07-28-06 07:24 PM

ummmm

was aquaman ever popular enough to warrant a tv show or movie? :hscratch:

(despite it beating spidey on entourage of course)

Patman 07-28-06 11:12 PM

I thought it was okay, liked the eye candy, though the siren was pretty bad in all phases of the game.

aktick 07-28-06 11:29 PM

Not sure that it means much, but this is #1 on itunes video downloads.

twikoff 07-29-06 10:18 PM

just finished watching it
for a pilot.. i didnt think it was all that bad...
if i had watched it on my own, without reading any reviews.. i would have come away without a full judgement, and probably given it 2-3 more episodes to make up my mind..

it seemed they wanted to squish alot of story into a pilot.. really wasnt time to do the character building and lead up that they should have.

Ive seen the pilot and quite enjoyed it. Some nice eye candy for sure

But the show didn't really have anything unique to draw you in.

Sure it would have been fun to see the depictions of atlantis and more evil sea creatures but the characters were pretty poor

matthewmilam 07-30-06 07:32 AM

Kinda makes you wonder what "Young MacGyver"'s pilot episode would have been.

TyroneJordan 08-02-06 02:38 AM

I think they did a good job with the plot, and they definitely have a good suspense factor, one much more convincing the that in Wisteria Lane. I think the actor that got and some of the cast make it a bit beachy and "OC meets One Tree Hill" with the attractive hunky blonde guy and girls in bikinis. All in all, the pilot has made me want more, and this will be a series that I will watch. I give it 5 episodes to see whether I'm bored or not.

Or not. They aren't making anything beyond this. The CW saw the pilot and passed.

gfoots 08-03-06 08:38 AM

I thought it totally sucked.

But don't write it completely off just yet. I'm sure the only reason the producers released this pilot to the internet was to gauge the amount of interest the public may have in the show. If enough people download it, it is possible it may be picked up for a mid-season series.

Timmio 08-07-06 11:56 PM

I watched it. Not bad, knowing that it was a pilot. With a budget for effects and some more character development, this could become a very good series. Does Warner Bros. own exclusive rights to all the DC characters? That sucks if true.

It's too bad that CW passed on this. Already a bad sign for the network in my opinion. Maybe someone else will pick it up. Out of 710 reviews it averages 4 out of 5 stars on iTunes.

Well at least we get Heros, which is awesome.

Time Warner owns DC. I doubt you'll see them ever sell off a character to another company.

DJariya 08-08-06 12:56 PM

If another network besides the CW is interested in the show, they can still purchase the rights to air it. However, given how late in the game it is, if by some miracle another network decides to pick up the show, I don't forsee it airing until next fall because most of the production staff on Aquaman already works on Smallville.

riley_dude 08-09-06 12:30 AM

There was a small blurb in the recent Entertainment Weekly about how the show has become the #1 TV show download on itunes but sources for CW say this won't change their decision regarding the fate of the show

DJariya 08-09-06 04:45 AM

The CW probably already has their programming budget for 2006-07 set, so I doubt this will ever get considered for resurrection on that network. Judging by the pilot, I doubt they would want to spend tons of money on an unproven show like this while they are still paying for shows like Supernatural and Smallville which already probably cost them a hefty sum of dough. Plus, probably most if not all the production staff who worked on the pilot probably have moved on to other jobs or returned to working on Smallville.
