This may be the stupidest question ever, but why does Kryptonite hurt Superman if he's from Krypton? Is Krypton full of Kryptonite? If so, how do/did they survive?
I only know Superman stuff from Smallville. I havent read any of the comics or seen any of the movies.

Why doesn't he wear a special suit like Superman did in the animated series so Kryptonite won't hurt him.

Their powers here are a side effect of Earth's sun. I think the rocks also get the same side effect.

No, the Kryptonians did not have powers on their planet, under a red sun. However, under Earth's yellow sun, they are granted near-invincible powers.
Also, Kryptonite hurts them because it gives off a radiation (an after-effect from the planet erupting, if I remember correctly).

But of course Smallville can make any rules they want about the history of it.
The thing I didnt understand was the end of the show with Braniac. Can he make different kinds of kryptonite, transform kryptonite any way he wants, or does he have a supply of them. Or maybe when he dropped it at the end, that means it was just an ordinary rock and he did something to it?

my thought is that there was no silver kryptonite. i interpreted the scene to mean that the "silver" k was actually a rock with part of Fine on it and was a plant to see what would happen to clark. we know fine (aka braniac) is a genius, so while the scene in the loft was very "heart-felt", i think it was another step in fine's plan to lure clark in...

And how does a person write a complete history of a character that existed through a couple of continuity rewrites? Does the history address all of the previous incarnations or just the latest?

This was a tight episode. I'm hoping because of what Chloe said towards the end of the episode doesn't mean that they are going to kill her off. Silver kryptonite was a trip. I don't know if Clark wrecked *another* red truck, because he was technically having delusions right then, but then again he could've just imagined the black bronco, and he did wreck the truck. Nonetheless, the Kents didn't seem to upset about it when Clark told them
. Seems like they've gotten use to it

Great episode, I like that they have brought in another steady adversary while Lex works on his evilness....although Fine is in the same mold as Lex....Friend in front/enemy behind.....

Nice ep. Interesting ending with Fine sucking the silver kryptonite back into himself. I wondered too if that is what he is made of, and so there actually is no silver kryptonite. Obviously a big scheme to get Clark to trust him, but I don't know that it worked. Wonder why he's so against Lex. Good stuff. Yeah, if they kill Chloe off after that "hit you over the head" foreshadowing, that will suck.
