My Name Is Earl or The Office (US) S2?
Earl seemed like a clear winner at the start of the season, while The Office S2 started off just okay I thought. They've both gotten better as the season's progressed, but The Office seems to have improved so much that I'm not sure Earl is that much better right now.
Which one is "must-see TV" for you? |
The Office, but Earl is close behind.
|
The Office gives me more laugh out loud moments, but Earl is just enjoyable to watch. Such different comedies it's hard to compare them.

Now what should happen is a cross-over: at one point in time, Earl made fun of Michael Scott's hair from season 1, so to cross Michael off the list, Earl works at the Office for a day. Think of the fun that could be had between Dwight and Randy! |
I like Earl, but I love The Office.
|
A cross-over could happen, since both shows take place in New Jersey.
But I voted "The Office." I like "Earl," but I like "The Office" more. My only gripe is that Earl comes first, and there's always a bit of overlap, so I'm chomping at the bit for The Office but have to sit through Earl first so I don't spoil myself. |
Both great shows, but I have to give "The Office" the edge.

I only watch Earl because it is the lead in to The Office, if it wasn't I probably wouldn't have watched more than the first episode.
|
I like Earl, but I like The Office a little better, especially since it's improved so much after last season.
|
The Office is good, but My Name Is Earl is great.

I've only seen the first 3 episodes of Earl, but The Office has had at least two classic episodes this season(Sexual Harassment and The Fight), so I'll give it the edge.
Now if I had to decide between Pam or Catalina, I'd go with Catalina. :) |

I never could exactly place "Earl"'s settng (rednecks are everywhere). Thanks. But doesn't "The Office" take place in Scranton, PA? yes it does and Office is way better |

But note, I'm a westerner. By our standards, Pennsylvania and New Jersey are small enough to be part of one state! |

I picked The Office, because I can't think of another show that was so well done that it took an entire community of internet people who wanted to piss all over the utter IDEA of the show and turned 95% of them around.
|
The Office. Both are great programs, but I wouldn't be that upset if Earl left the air. The Office, on the other hand, is something I look forward to every Tuesday.
|
I refuse to pick between the only two good comedies on NBC at the moment(not counting Scrubs).
|
I cant believe The Office is getting so much response here. Its not even a shell of the original BBC show. The jokes are weak, and Steve Carrell's character is not funny at all. The only limited entertainment comes from Rainn Wilson. Earl is completely fresh and new, and Jason Lee is great in every ep. Plus the supporting cast has much more funny moments. I just dont see The Office making it back next year, the ratings continue to drop, and they lose a lot of Earl's lead in.

I think this Office is actually coming close to surpassing the BBC version (heresy!). I like the characters better, and while it's dark, it's a little less bleak. I think Gervais was better as the boss, but Carrell is really coming into his own. Rainn Wilson is superb, and Jim is getting better all the time. And hottie Pam is no contest over Dawn, who I never particularly liked.

Earl, but I LOVE both shows.

However, between Earl and The Office, Earl gets the slight edge. And as sven said, these are the only two good comedies on NBC at the moment. |
I think we need to stop comparing the UK and US versions of the Office. The US version has rapidly evolved into something very different. Not to mention that the topic has been done to death and accomplishes nothing.

I keep trying to like The Office (US), but it just doesn't do it for me. I don't dislike it. It's fine. Carrell is funny, and some of the antics are humorous, but it's not really appointment television. I think I find it a little too over-the-top, and a lot of the jokes feel too forced. "Sweep the leg" was hilarious, though. I prefer the cleverness of Arrested Development or the subtlety of The Office (UK), and to the question at hand, I find myself enjoying Earl more from week to week.

The Office. I stopped watching Earl.
