Lucy Lawless - Vampire Bats: CBS 10/30
http://www.cbs.com/specials/vampire_bats/
This is nothing less than a dream come true.
Lucy Lawless is back as Maddy Reirdon(former USDA voracious insect specialist), and this time instead of Killer Locusts, she's up against Killer Vampire Bats. She's like the Indiana Jones of cheap B movies about small deadly creatures.
It's been less than a year since the acclaimed LOCUSTS premiered, so you know that a lot of hard work, dedication, and love went into this sequel.
Whoever the horny producer is that decided to toss all of his money into making bad movies featuring Lucy Lawless running in tight shirts while fighting swarms of easily CGI'd creatures.. I salute you.

Maybe my local station is screwy, but this aint in HD.
2 deaths 20 minutes in and not a single bat has been on screen yet. I guess they had to cut into the effects budget to coax Brett Butler out of retirement.

This movie has a lot of great symbolism in it. The contrast of the gatherings held by students and the professors illustrates the differences between the generations. However, when the bats attack, they attack both functions simultaneously. This illustrates that despite our differences, we all share a common humanity. And a susceptibility to bat attacks.

By having a George Bush lookalike play a major who mishandles the catastrophe in Louisiana, the producers are making a subtle political statement about FEMA. This is the type of thing that would be expected of Spike Lee but to see it in a mere TV movie is astounding.
And having Lucy Lawless doing an autopsy in a tight, hot pink tank top is great satire about the current state of medical realism in the media.

oh that was just some B grade goodness right there. Right down to a yellow eye puppet bat........ in HD.. Awwwww YEAH!!!!
I still think Spring Break Shark attack is the movie to beat for these sort of made for tv junky popcorn flicks but then how can any tv movie really compete with spring break + sharks = exploding people?!?!?! Ah but as a fan of B grade stuff I do like to see them try..

I was was disappointed the bats didn't develop the ability to do undewater and pull that girl up in the pool after they got her boyfriend; that would have been sweet.

"Locusts" and "Spring Break Shark Attack" were classics compared to this piece of guano. The handheld cameras were giving me motion sickness and the acting was terrible all around. It also seems to me that the writers never went to college. I would have turned it off, but I was hoping for a scantily clad Lucy scene like in the beginning of "Locusts". Speaking of which, the previews kept showing a scene where she was in a knit cap and vest kind of thing outdoors at night (sort of a hippie get-up)I didn't see that scene in the movie - did I just miss it or was it not there?

I think the skimpy clothing scene was when she was making breakfast for her kids while wearing short shorts and a loose top. (lots of bending over to pick up stuff).
She gave a 3 month old a full unpeeled banana for breakfast. And I think her other kid got cereal with spoiled milk. Mother of the year she aint. But I'll cut her some slack since she shows up to teach class looking hotter than most of the coeds.
