CSI "Gum Drops" 10-20-05

Nick takes the lead on a case where in the house a family of four, three pools of blood are found. Nick thinks that the little girl may still be alive, but Sara is doubtful, thinking that Nick's recent near-death experience is affecting his judgement.
I thought this was actually a better episode than normal. But, the real insteresting point is how both Miami and Vegas operated without their head CSIs for their cases this week. The Vegas team worked like a well-oiled machine and Miami was bumbling. Sorta like the shows.

Nick was bad-ass in the interrogation room.

Actually, the director of this episode has done a lot of CSI:

This was a great episode. Felt very different than what's been shown so far this season. I liked it...I liked it a lot.

Did not car for this episode a whole lot, I would have liked it more if the little girl would have been dead. It seemed to Hollywood ending with her making it through 2 days on a lake with her throat sliced.

Yeah I dind't care for it too much. For some reason, I've been kinda BLAH about this whole season of the vegas CSI so far. Maybe I've just been overcome by Miami's orange glow.

yeah, that is one beef i had with the episode, that the girl was still alive. seemed pretty implausible. but that was really only the last 5 minutes, so i still say great episode.

I'm trying to catch up on CSI... just finished season 2. At what point between then and now did Nick start hearing voices in his head, and the series changed from being science to being "psychic detectives"? Don't get me wrong, I liked the ep, but the whole "I hear the dead" was a bad idea.

That's not really the way I looked at the episode. Nick is talking to the girl at the end and asks her to tell the story of what happened to her. Perhaps all the voiceovers during the episode are the parts she remembers or the things she says to Nick and they were played during the episode as a parallel. I never had the thought that Nick was "hearing things".

That is how I see it, too. Great episode!

yeah, i never took it as nick hearing things either. when she starts explaining things at the end, it matches what we heard at beginning of the episode. It was just a stylistic choice.

I liked it, but I almost always like the episodes where they focus on one case instead of bouncing between 2 or 3 different cases.

That makes a lot of sense. I was only half-paying attention to the show.

Thanks!

I really thought this was one of the best episodes I've seen. I liked the stying of the show, the pacing, and the fact that it focused on one case. Excellent all around to me.

Great episode.

The ending would have had more impact if she had died but you knew that wasn't going to happen.

Great ep. Nice to see less of Gris and Kath for a bit. Nick was solid, and got to be the lead and focus for the show. I agree the girl being alive was a little implausible, but it tied up nicely at the end with her beginning her store again, which is how the ep started out. Best ep this season so far..

I thought it was a great episode. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the guy chickened out on the throat slitting and tossed her overboard. It looked like the little girl's throat was only nicked, not really cut.

I just watched this last night - I liked it but here is my RANT:

1) With 3 dead bodies on the boat - you would think that the CSI team would find traces of blood all over it. We have seen in the past that bleach and water do not remove blood traces.

2) In the house - we do not see drag marks through the pools of blood. It looks like the bodies were levitated out of the house. There should have been drag marks, a mess of blood all swirled on the ground - where they put the bodies into garbage bags.

They make these high school kids look like the most organized, undetectable murderers ever

as for #1, if they were in bags, it's possible that no blood leaked out...

but i definitely agree with you on #2.
