Shannon Nutt 10-20-05 06:25 AM

Aquaman pops up in land-locked Kansas? Guess he'll be living in a lake or something?

So which Aquaman do we get? The manly Aquaman
http://xavier.lancel.free.fr/ventes/...et%20files.gif
Or the gay Aquaman?

I am hoping for the hook hand Aquaman.

IMO, "Superfriends" cartoon Aquaman -- with or without seahorse -- is the ONLY Aquaman

I like the Aquaman from the Robot Chicken "Real World" sketch... Superman made him his bitch... lol

This pic looks like metrosexual Aquaman not a gay Aquaman.
You think people will actually turn in and think this episode has the group "Aqua" in it?

I thought that too until I saw the pictures of tonight's Aquaman.

Kal-El 10-20-05 06:02 PM

Gleek?

LivingINClip 10-20-05 07:38 PM

Ugh.
That's all I have to say.
Brainac is a idiot.
Aquaman is "dude".
Ugh.

Red Dog 10-20-05 07:41 PM

I wish Baywatch was still around so they could cast Erica Durance. Wow.

Fooman 10-20-05 07:57 PM

aquaman makes out to be an idiot who says "bro" and "dude" too much. his scenes were actually tolerable minus the flirting with lois.

stay "super" hahahahahhahaha. that line made me laugh.

lois in the bathing suit.....yes, please.

animalmystic 10-20-05 08:13 PM

WTF Why is metro Aquaman wearing a tummy shirt :whofart:

Hook hand, Jesus looking Aquaman kicks ass!!

Ohhh i can't wait to see Lois in a bikini!!!   Down boy, down.

Doesn't look like we are going to see Lana in a bikini, but I guess a bathing suit will work, ugh.... Why Kristin why....body doubles now this.

Can't wait till 8:00

Bluebomber 10-20-05 08:21 PM

Maybe i'm not paying enough attention, did Lex give Clark a key or something? Clark walks in on him a hell of a lot for two people who hate each other.

amped 10-20-05 08:27 PM

Episode was ok. Didn't really like the surfer dude version of Aquaman.

heh, JLA.

That is all I remember about the show - I think I need a pic or two to remind me. :D

GuessWho 10-20-05 08:47 PM

"I'm not ready for the JLA"

cute

Rogue588 10-20-05 09:15 PM

I liked this ep. Liked the bro that played Aquaman. Could've lightened up on the use of "bro" a little.

Guess i'll be the lone dissenter and say that while I could appreciate Lois in a bikini, she really does need some meat on her bones though. Being able to count her ribs was kinda...ugh. Don't know if it was me or not, but Lex seemed a lot more outwardly evil in this ep. I liked it. Shame they didn't handle the eventual turning better..

Rocketdog2000 10-20-05 09:47 PM

Not a bad episode, except for the casting and portrayal of Aquaman/Arthur Curry. The actor who played him was horrendously bad - a total cliche of what someone 'thinks' a surfer sounds like, and for that matter, why play up the surfing aspect of it anyway - the guy's a swimmer. Do swimmer's talk that way, too? Don't think so. Also, for someone from Florida, it sounded much more like it was Texas, to me. And what's up with wearing the same outfit for the ENTIRE episode? Ok, he did change from a tank top to a t-shirt for his final scene, but still. Oh, and could he possibly have shown off that stupid toothy smile just a wee bit less. This was even worse than the way they handled The Falsh's appearence. Lame, lame, lame. I understand they want to revamp these characters for thier (the shows) vision, but sometimes, it feels like they're playing down to more of a junior audience than actually watches the show.

The rest of the show was decent, though. Glad to see James Marsters (aka Proffessor Milton Fine) get some reel screen time. Think he's going to be a fine addtion to the guest stars this season. Liked all the geeky in jokes, too ("JLA", AC's color scheme (at least the first time it was mentioned), and the last few lines of the show). Oh, and always good to see Lois back.

Slayer2005 10-20-05 09:55 PM

The episode was enjoyable, but I was disappointed that they TOTALLY ignored Clark's explanation about his resurrection from the previous episode. It's like that event never took place. That's annoying. What could he have possibly said to explain that to Lana (plus why after he was resurrected he had holes in his shirt and black marks on his skin)? That episode had a great ending (better though when I thought he showed himself to Lana becuase he was going to reveal the truth to her), but it seems the writers dug themselves yet another hole to bury a problem in so they can act as if it never happened. I really hope they come back to this issue soon.

Lex was great as usual. Oh, and Lois was smoking hot in the bikini. :)

Dubya 10-20-05 10:02 PM

Ok here's the proverbial "This thread is worthless without pics of Erica Durance in a bikini" post ;)

I read that the dude who played Aquaman was a former contestant on American Idol, so that might explain his lack of acting skills.

Iron_Giant 10-20-05 10:43 PM

Love the show tonight.

Did a great job with the anger of Aquaman when people mess with his kingdom.

Cool to see Lex going down the dark path and get involved with military weapons.

Seems like the production budget is "out of this world".

theedge 10-20-05 10:53 PM

Fun episode, not as good as the Flash episode last season, but still better than a freak of the week.

I hope they have another JLA member come up in a future episode...maybe...

http://www.fif3.com/pics/people/batboy.jpg

Erica has a much better body than I thought, she always looked bigger in the clothes she wears...but hubba hubba! :)

wearetheborg 10-20-05 11:48 PM

I cant belive nobody posted Masters line from next week:
"Vampires ? There are no vampires Mr Kent "
:D
Oh and Erika

boredsilly 10-20-05 11:54 PM

I like my girls thicker, but damn if Erica aint...I mean damn.

I really was looking forward to this ep, but the dude playing Aquaman really was awful i thought. It was cool seeing the little nods to the JLA and Superman's future...and Erica in a swimsuit, but that's about it.

I can't help but wonder what other comic people they could work into the show. I just don't see them getting the ok to bring in Bruce Wayne, J'onn J'onnz doesn't seem likely, and Green Lantern doesn't either. Even with the movie in the works I'm gonna hold out for a Wonder Woman cameo, and at the very least a LEGION ep since they're so tied to the Superboy lore.

ETA: I do really like the darker Lex. When I see Rosenbaum starting to actually go dark, it makes me wish I could see what he would do with a full blown evil Lex going up against a caped Superman. Damn the man.

Patman 10-21-05 12:04 AM

This episode was a lot of fun.

Now, AC was "cut", he had almost comic book proportions. Clark is still just lean, but not overly muscular like AC.

There were some cheesy lines, but their heart was in the right place. I had a big grin at a lot of the funny bits. Prof. Fine had somewhat a midwest accent, James Marsters' accent is more Californian.

animalmystic 10-21-05 12:29 AM

ERICA DURANCE IN A BIKINI!!!! Holy fucking yum!!!

I have read numerous articles/interviews with the creators/producers and there are elements/characters that are off limits for Smallville to use because they may have an effect on the viewing audience, because there is either another show/movie with these characters, and it may confuse the viewer: whatever WB, bite me.

Spoiler:
Any sort of romantic relationship with Clark and Lois is off limits, WB says no because that will supposedly confuse the audience, and WB wants Smallville and the new Superman movie to be 2 different elements.

Lois interaction with Lex is suppose to be very minimal. I believe they only had 1 or 2 scenes together last season and none this season. Once again WB pulls the confusion card.(this may change)

Absolutely NO Bruce Wayne. WB doesn't want that character used because of the success of Batman Begins, and confusing him with Smallville lore.

WW is supposedly off limits but who knows, maybe that might change.

Who knows what else....

Anyways back to the episode. The eppy was pretty good, I liked the elements with Lex, and him turning darker/being more of a prick, especially with the military weapons. Very cool. Clark seems a little arrogant busting in on Lex like that in his own crib, if I was Lex I would smack dat bitch, oh wait that was a few episodes back!

Tha bro that played Aquaman was wack!! That guy really really sucked. Nuff said there. Please don't invite this guy back for future episodes if there are any, please re-cast. Thanks.

Loved James as Clark's Professor and his whole attitude towards the Luthors, very interesting what might develope. Good to see JM back on TV again, great actor when used right.

but I was disappointed that they TOTALLY ignored Clark's explanation about his resurrection from the previous episode. It's like that event never took place. That's annoying. ^co-sign, but Smallville has pulled this shit SOOOO many times I am used to it now, I mean at lease he was wearing a band aid when he was at the beach, gee thanks for that writers, thats big of ya to do. :sarcasm:

Erica in a bikini -other-

The ending of the episode was awesome!!! The music, the setting, the emotions, the characters. Lois put down that abrasiveness and really let her emotions out, very good to see. I was actually feeling what Lois was feeling, and what she was talking about... great GREAT ending. Then Clark coming over to tell her that she will find somebody "super" or whatever he said, then the camera pans out then end credits. Its small things like that that really really matter, awesome ending, great camera work, great music.

Not much Lana this episode, i actually enjoyed it.

We need more Lex oriented/focused episodes. I would love to see more of what makes him Lex, business, pleasure ect ect.

Erica looked amazing in a bikini!!! I don't think those breasts are real, but they look great!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... -other- :hump:

Next week looks good too!!
Spoiler:
Bring on the vampires, Halloween and Chloe in a skimpy school girl outfit, holy fuck, I need more Vaseline!!!!!

animalmystic 10-21-05 12:30 AM

James Marsters' accent is more Californian
Off topic, Hey Patman, can you describe for me a Califorian accent? Thanks just curious :)

It's a bit of a surfer-dude accent, but Marster's accent at Dragon Con wasn't as bad as AC's was. Marsters definitely didn't sound like Prof. Fine in his normal speaking voice, and it sounded funny at the time because all I had ever heard from Marsters was his British accent as Spike up to that point.

And it's pretty apparant that Durance got some upgrades from her previous bits of nudity from "House of the Dead". But I'm not complaining, no siree!

Gotcha man, thanks!

Damn I need to travel more :(

calhoun07 10-21-05 12:48 AM

My main problem with this series is what we don't see. As somebody already pointed out, we never got to see how Clark explained his resurrection to Lana without revealing his true powers. Also, the house seemed to be rebuilt over night, even while Clark didn't have any super powers, and did they ever even touch on the fact that Jason is dead??? These things don't require twenty minute scenes, or a lot of focus. A quick shot of contractors working on the house, a few minutes of a serious moment between Clark and Lana, a few lines mentioning Jason....it wouldn't take much to fill in the blanks but what do they make more time for? More lines like "dude" and "bro."

That aside, I did enjoy this episode as a stand alone. I wasn't a tremendous fan of the actor chosen to play Aquaman, but I liked his motivation to be in Smallville, which also in turn seems to push Clark further into being the reporter he is meant to be. Good stuff over all. But that's just it...it was a stand alone episode. They had too much trailing from the last episode to go into stand alones this early on.

animalmystic 10-21-05 01:06 AM

and did they ever even touch on the fact that Jason is dead???
The only thing I remember is when Lana was in the hospital bed reading the paper and on the front page an article about Jason and Geneieve being killed...and of course the "You owe me" from "L" thats the only thing I remember them "mentioning" Jason.

SuprVgeta 10-21-05 02:05 AM

Atleast Clark was still wearing his "patch" over the bullet wound from last week's episode at the start of tonight's episode ;) . It was a pretty good episode I thought, mainly because of Lex's evilness. No John Glover or John Schneider, or heck not even any Annette O'Toole that I can remember (except for the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation promo at the end of the episode  ). So I guess Clark is enrolled at Central Kansas A&M or whatever, I wish they would've explained that a little more, I think there was a small mention of Clark "thinking" about going to that school in one of the last season 4 episodes, but nothing major. Still digging this season

Chew 10-21-05 06:05 AM

"Junior Lifeguard Association"

Wow, that guy was a bad actor.

Giantrobo 10-21-05 06:13 AM

This is the 1st time I've ever watched Smallville and it was only because of Aquaman. I didn't know "The Flash" appeared last season and I'm interested in seeing that ep. I remember Clark mentioning meeting with someone who ran fast last year in last night's ep. Basically DC hero appearences are the only way I'll watch this show. Anyway, overall I liked the ep but the guy playing "AC" was a bad actor.

So, they were trying to explain Aquaman's color scheme by saying he went to University of Miami? Not bad!

The bleached-out teeth/veneers were kind of annoying in HD.
