They should allot enough time in the schedule to complete the games, and if there's half an hour to fill, just show highlights, play commentary, or air some other filler.

I believe 60 Minutes still hovers somewhere near the top ten shows of the week, but it doesn't attract the fucking vacuous, mindlessly acquisitive "tween" demographic, so execs give it the bum's rush.

OK, so we've now used the words hip and Andy Rooney in the same post...we've now compared an exciting athletic competition to mindless, pre scripted talk shows (because having old people interview politicians and book-plugging celebrities and putting the show on at 6 on a sunday clearly gives a show credibility). I always wondered who the crappy people were who watched the upn sunday movie of the week about spousal abuse or a car hitting a puppy, now i know, thank you!
Im sure Jesus is quite concerned about all of this as well!

If I actually watched anything on their Sunday night lineup, this would annoy the crap out of me. Fox handles the situation much better if you ask me.

If Cold Case can't end on time at 9, no point watching the beginning.
60 Minutes could be 6 Minutes for all I care; as long as it finished at 8.

I was actually kind of offended that this thread was censored/altered. Without a true discussion of religion, just a few off the cuff remarks about Jesus. I don't usually have a problem with any posts and will seldom speak out, but this one just caught me and it did upset me...
If there are any offensive things against DVDTalk rules or Moderator feelings, I think the post should be locked or deleted, but not censored.
That is all....

Discussing CBS and the constant football overrun is on topic for this area and I thought it was a valid discussion to leave open.

I wish the NFL would just start games at 1:00 and 4:30 instead of the normal 1:00 and 4:00 on Sundays. They need to realize that games no longer run at the 3-hour average as most are now 3.5 hours with the amount of commercials they are cramming in.
Start games at 1:00, that way there's no more cutting into previously started games at 4:00, then have the 4:30 games wrap at 8:00, right on time for prime time programming.

You really ought to acquaint yourself with the meanings of "mindless", "pre-scripted", and "talk show" before using the words. Oh, and, in case it went over your head, which looks to be the case, "hip" and "Andy Rooney" were, if not antithetically positioned, then certainly not conflated, in my first entry. I am delighted at not being deemed hip, because being hip is for appearance-obsessed lemmings.
Lest anyone think I'm a 60 Minutes groupie, not at all; I skip it if something else comes up. Anyway, we have a number of better public affairs shows up here in Canada.
You go ahead and continue to be mentally stimulated by 300-pounders giving each other concussions.

Did anyone watch Cold Case last night?
It was kind of funny, the show was delayed aound 5 minutes (due to some sporting event?), so right aound 9:00 they were revealing the killer and then suddenly they cut into it for Bush's speech.
They resumed the show after the speech but it was pretty funny, how literally the killer was like "Thwack!" and then they cut away. By the time they resumed it was the end of the show music montage. Kind of anti-climactic.

I watched and it was weird, although by then it was obvious who the killer was.
However, they could have "whacked" Andy Rooney's anti-Christmas-catalog rant and started on time. (Of course they could have whacked 60 Minutes in the entirity and been an hour early for all I care. I'd like to see Cold Case ALWAYS start on time at 8:00, as I have other things to watch at 9 PM. 60 Minutes gets all the minutes between the end of football and 8:00:00 PM. They can broadcast the balance at midnight.
