I also think there's only one island and the fact that we don't know, or at least the survivors don't seem to know, how big the island is is a flaw in the season 1 plot imho. Let's face it, one of the first things you'd do in this situation, after worrying about food and shelter, is send some teams to try and map the island. Even if a) you hit a mountain you can't go beyond or b) people are too scared of the boogeyman in the forest, they could easily have built a small raft and row around the island to get an idea of how big it is. With 40+ survivors, it's certainly not for lack of manpower.

To keep the whole mystery intact however, you could argue that it's better if viewers/survivors don't know how big the island is, although it's not logical. :)

There's no way the props department made this big of a mistake *and* it slipped past the powers that be.

Could it just be that these back stories are how the person is remembering what happened so the little details are not that important.
Or maybe they just like to do these little things to mess with the viewers heads.

Another thing I argued all last season and was brutally ripped apart for it. It's probably best if you didn't go there.

That's what I thought at first since Jack waited until almost the last second, but I think after the code is entered it keeps counting down and then resets after it hits 000:00. I could be wrong.

Josh H 10-15-05 10:35 AM

Couldn't it simply be that once the code is entered, you have up to 108 minutes to enter it again?

i.e. it doesn't have to be entered at any certain time in that range, but just at least once every 108 minutes, and the timer resets to 108 when ever it's entered regardless of what time the code is entered.

That's they way I see it anyway.

But I agree that it probably does zilch.

Bronkster 10-15-05 11:28 AM

Here's my theory on entering the numbers: Yes, it is a psychological experiement and is being monitored by some Dharma hack in Australia (or wherever - doesn't matter). As long as the numbers are being entered correctly every 108 minutes, Dharma hack assumes all is well and the experiment continues. Were something to happen to Desmond (or whoever is assumed to be entering numbers) and the numbers stopped being entered, the Dharma hack would go to Phase Two of the experiment which is to send a rescue team to the island to find out what happened! As long as Our Heroes keep entering the numbers, the rescuers will never come because they're thinking everything is fine and the experiment continues!

What episode is the plane logo shot in?

EDIT: Never mind, I found it on on Tabula Rasa. I don't think it's the Dharma logo because the sides on the Dharma logo are all the same length (like a stop sign). The top side of the logo on the plane wreckage is twice as long as the diagonal lines.

I remember seeing some special about soldiers that shoed that MREs (at least used to) come packed with candy bars, and the way soldiers checked to see how old the MREs were was by checking dates on the candy bars. Some of the candy bars were around seven years old and still edible.

If this is a psychological expirement, why were the numbers being broadcast to Canada?

Hmm... just read the TV Guide Lost story as well an article about the girl who plays Shannon.

Major spoilers... (really)

Spoiler:
the TV Guide article says that there are major rumors that one of the lead female characters will die before the holidays, and the article about the girl who plays Shannon says that the rumor is that she (ok, the character Shannon, not the actress) will be the one to die.

How could it though? It was said that that bunker was to be manned by two people. Hurley said there was only enough food to feed one person for three months. Had Desmond been down there with someone else, they would have run out of supplies by now... wouldn't they start to wonder how "fine" everything was when their rations ran out and they were locked in a quarantine bunker? I doubt anyone is going to come to "help".

superman69 10-17-05 10:03 AM

plus Desmond was on the island longer than his "shift" was supposed to be, so he by himself could've offset the amount of food there. what was the amount of time he was on the island and the amount of time before a "replacement" was supposed to showed up? wouldnt you think the way it wouldve been, whomever the replacement was to be wouldve also brought new supplies? i also dont think that Hurleys claiming there is "food for 3 months" can be too credible since 1. its a guess-timation 2. who knows how much he eats to constitute a meal.

My thoughts on "Everybody Hates Hugo"

Not many thrills here, but a good character episode for Hurley, he makes me laugh :D
I liked the dream sequence bit:

Jin (in English): Everything's going to change.
Hurley: Dude, you speak English?
Jin: No, you're speaking Korean.
Hurley (in Korean): What?

The same thing with the "...And Found" episode, Sun's lost ring is just an excuse for a backstory, DAMN she is very nice :D
I liked Mr Ecko, he was cool :D

I really think Jin's and Sawyers capturers must be fellow survivors (from the back of the plane?) rather than the "others".

BTW, how come no-one has tried to explore the island and work out how big it is?
As to the food down in the hatch, Hurley said there was enough to feed one guy for 3 months so a) What the hell has Desmond been living on and b) How long has he been down there? :)
